I’m picky about my dev workflow, so adopting new tools takes time. But I’ve used git worktrees exclusively for the past year and have loved it. 🌟

They’ve been game-changing as my engineering impact/scope has grown.

Probably not. I’m either the guy who says that there’s a logical explanation for all of this before being killed to show that no, there’s not, or the guy who says we should get out while we can before being killed to show that, no, we can’t.
You're in a horror movie.

Do you survive?

If so, how?

It depends. I'm the planner so I could final girl it despite being a ho but if the killer is one of my own party, I'm too autistic to consider that people lie.

I won’t act like my opinion does or should carry any weight here, but having watched a doula assist in bringing both of my kids into the world, I can say with confidence that the idea of delegating that work to LLMs shows a poor understanding of medicine, humans, and LLMs.
I don't know, can an AI doula massage your back during transition? Hold your hand? Hold your cup when you take a drink? Hold your hand to balance in yoga poses? Walk down the street to pick up dinner for you after delivery? Physically position your baby for breastfeeding?

I thought not.

Just got a popup on the app that Mr. 4’s teacher uses to communicate with parents asking if I wanted to upgrade to premium. Welcome to EdTech hell I guess.

Just a reminder that Hochul tried to stop this from happening. She busted in like the Kool-aid person to try to stop the policy. The North remembers.
the results so far on congestion pricing in new york have been so outrageously good that opposition to it works as a convenient identifier of unserious buffoons www.reuters.com/world/us/new...

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Sample size of 1, but it says a lot to me about the current media landscape that this seems to happen faster and faster. “Literally” to mean “figuratively” took a good chunk of my life, “devops” to “infrastructure” a few years, and “enshitification” to “a company did something bad” a few months
It’s also useful to note that the popular adoption of the term has (inevitably) become far more reductive than Cory’s original more nuanced and specific meaning for the word, and he did not frame it as some inevitability that we must resign ourselves to, but rather as something we can dismantle.

This is a point I find myself making often. Regardless of the utility of any particular tool—AI or otherwise—forcing its usage centers the tool over the human using it.
Something I didn't get to say yesterday:

We heard over and over during the event about "human-centered" approaches to "AI". But if refusal is not on the table (at every level: individual students and teachers right up through UNESCO) then we have in fact centered the technology, not the people.
It has been really interesting to attend UNESCO's Digital Learning Week (though unfortunately I'm not able to stick around). My public lecture from yesterday can be found here:

I tried out jujutsu and it’s really great! I loved the workflow. But it also feels like so many of the integrations I want just aren’t there yet. I’ll likely put it down for a bit and come back in a few months and see where the ecosystem is.
