basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

For my newsletter, I took a deeper look at the electoral record of WelcomePAC, a centrist group that produced that 352 page document advising Democrats to moderate once again.

Turns out the campaigns they work for aren't winning. www.burnsnotice.com/fire-the-con...

Is there anyone more pro-cop in Congress than Swalwell? I don't think so and he's running around saying vote for us and we'll unmask ICE. And this doesn't strike others as proof that this reformist reform is useless????

i keep saying this but what i hate most about the ezra kleins of the world is their insistence is that politics is about messaging and triangulating. its never about offering a compelling vision of the world, its about trying desperately to capitulate to whatever moment we are in

Special thanks to all the worms in politics and media who tried to sell us “universally beloved saint Charlie Kirk” over the last few days. Sorry you failed but 1) not nearly as many people know him as you thought / hoped 2) he was deeply racist, like on a KKK level, and that’s kinda off-putting

I want a politics that widens the circle to include everyone, not one that shrinks the circle by throwing *undesirables* under the bus. I think this is basic. I am interested in a politics that is rooted at the sources of people's suffering. I am interested in a politics that attends to basic needs.

I do wish people would treat transphobia as the serious red flag it is, because if someone is repeating bullshit pseudoscience talking points from right wing cranks, that's just as bad as conceding to anti-vax nonsense and undermining trust in science and medicine, alarm bells should be sounding!

the problem with letting democrats backslide their support of trans rights whether it be trans in sports or using bathrooms is we’ve seen “compromise” in the UK labor party. they gave into “reasonable” TERF demands and it destroyed the labor party and all rights for trans people

it's like. so basic and i don't get why they don't see how ridiculous the idea of "guy who's always voted R will vote D if the candidate is R enough" is. why would he do that. he'd rather just vote R
the tldr is that the anti-trans voters who care enough about the issue to change votes will only change votes if Dems promise to eliminate trans people from society. But showing weakness on protecting trans rights could potentially lose millions of Dem base votes.

Centrist/Moderate is great branding because it implies reasonableness but there's nothing reasonable about stubbornly clinging to pro-business and pro-upper class politics when the country is falling apart. This is an ideology like any other, and it's a bad one
While progressives often get accused of undermining the Democratic Party, the evidence shows that it’s the moderate wing that most often violates the “Vote Blue No Matter Who” principle.

i don't understand that any democrat is currently talking beyond "elect democrats next time!" and honestly i think this is going to take a total constitutional overhaul. executive power, the supreme court, the electoral college, hell even the senate. this all has to be locked down to stop this

Alt text tips from a fellow deafblind user of Bluesky! I’ll add my own two cents: I vastly prefer alt text that’s truly descriptive. The more information you give, the more useful the alt text is.
Tips for alt text : Please use alt text not as a label but describe- What do you find striking about the image?
Why did you add the image?
What is the context?
Is it the style? Is it the text contained within it? The colours?
Whatever you wanted the image to convey, convey it in the alt text
