Forget insults, what’s the most unhinged *compliment* you’ve ever received?

Sometimes when I am feeling down I pull up the car dealership post celebrating J Mascis for buying a sensible compact car and draw strength from it like a jpg spirit bomb

Saw Hamnet, a movie that I’m reasonably sure has more contempt for its audience than Joker 2. I wish to throw Chloe Zhao in a lake.

Kramarczuks now offers sausages “ukranian style” with coleslaw, shredded carrots, mayo, ketchup, and dill. Have no earthly idea what makes that combo Ukranian. Can’t find anything about it as a common sausage topping in Ukraine. Can confirm: delicious on a Kramarczuks Ukranian Sausage.

Also in this time of year you get to see all the pretty decorations on Nicollet Mall and it’s delightful.
The 11 bus is truly an underrated heater of mass transit. Gets you to the MSP film society, the MIA, and the Seward Coop Friendship Store. What a treat.

If you think about the bus as “uber but you need to walk three blocks but you get a 90% discount” you’ll probably ride it more.

in many ways the greatest frustration of the Frye administration is sitting here watching other cities *literally right next to us* do things better as we fail to even try
A major homeless encampment in St. Paul has remained relatively clean and calm, with dumpsters to keep trash in check, portable toilets for residents and frequent visits from outreach workers.
St. Paul’s largest encampment has grown, but problems have been relatively few
Unlike Minneapolis, St. Paul provides dumpsters and toilets, and city officials say that helps.

also worth noting that every immigrant community in the twin cities metro is freaked the fuck out over ICE right now.

I needed to get buzzed into the goddamn taqueria for lunch yesterday.
White dude with camera arrives at daycare and demands to see kids.

Daycare workers keep doors and windows closed.

White dude alleges fraud.

Every Republican backs white dude.

That's the current story in Minnesota.

fun fact: Martín Supremo does not necessarily indicate a higher quality of Martín, it simply refers to a size demarcation. A Martín Excelso or a Marín Peaberry can also produce an excellent Ping Pong player

really underscoring one of @moochava.bsky.social's bugaboos about how food in America was garbage when we were children, currently watching a documentary from 1980 about how there are all these weird people who like putting garlic in their food

If you're a business owner/manager who's on the fence about the benefits of bike usage to move your people and stuff around I'll happily share data and info with you about how it's not just "as good" as cars, but better!
Minnesota businesses can apply *right now* for a grant to purchase e-bikes for commercial use through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's (MPCA) Small Business Environmental Assistance Program!

every time I post something that advocates for pedestrian, bike, and mass transit on reddit, I inevitably get someone saying "this is MINNESOTA, we have WINTER"

and just reading everyone's comments about driving today I'm thinking "you know that same logic applies to cars too, right?"

the cognac that Paul Giamatti steals at the end of The Holdovers (2024) retails for $4000 for a 700 ml bottle. The 15 ml swallow that he spits onto the ground is worth $85. (in today's dollars. no idea what it cost in 1971)
