Nice piece from CBC Ottawa about a Logistics Branch CAF vet whose career was similar to my late father's. Dad was ten years older - also from rural Manitoba - and joined up in time to start military life in Korea. Let's commemorate their service to peace.

On this day in 1813, the Battle of Crysler's Farm was fought near present-day Morrisburg, Ontario. In the battle, 800 Canadian and British troops faced 8,000 Americans. The battle was a defeat for the Americans, who then abandoned their Saint Lawrence campaign.

Communities commemorate veterans and our fallen in ways as simple as paint on the roadway in Ottawa or as elaborate as personalized banners on light posts in towns like Perth.
It is heartening to see more municipalities help all of us to #RememberThem.

Logged on this morning to commemorate Remembrance Day and found my timeline clogged with existential commentary about the nature of Bond and Bondian characters.
This appears to be the ground zero post that sparked it.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Sigh. I took down my Senate Instagram account a few months ago. A mistake, perhaps, since there is now a fake Insta account pretending to be me - and well meaning but confused folks are tagging it. If you are still on Instagram, could you please do me a favour and report it as a fraud?

Honestly, if people today had to contend with these kinds of economic conditions, they'd melt down
My first mortgage was in '89 and it was 10% - and that was a VA mortgage that was 1 point below prime. Commercial mortgages were high 12s, low 13s.
