The job of our police is to keep people safe, not enforce fed immigration laws. I want them preventing homicides, not hunting down a working dad who contributes to Minneapolis and is from Ecuador. It’s similar to the policy your guy Rudy had in NYC. Everyone should feel comfortable calling 911.

Needless to say that Renee Good and Alex Pretti will go down as heroes here in Minnesota and nationally, their names synonymous with sacrifice and caring for vulnerable neighbors even at the risk of your own life. And hopefully no more innocent lives are lost.

Tom Suozzi represents the NY-3 district on northwestern Long Island.

If there's any mayor or town council member in Syosset or Great Neck or wherever who wants to make their move, this is the time.

Denounce this vote, promise you'd stand up to the goons, and you'd raise a million in a week.
FWIW:

Golden is retiring.

The filing deadline has passed in NC; Davis is the only Dem running.

The filing deadline has passed in TX; Gonzalez & Cuellar both have primary opponents.

Gillen has several Dem opponents as well, as does Perez.

If you want to primary Suozzi, you still have until 3/30.

Seriously, @people.com has been meeting the moment better than 90% of publications with direct reporting and crystal clear headlines.

This is a good way for the low-information voters who are usually detached from the news cycle to get turned around.

@wajali.bsky.social and I discussed this yesterday.

"Affordability" is a perennial complaint from the out-of-power party and Democrats will surely be hit with it again when they're in power.

They need to run on "accountability" as well, both to set up real reform but also to break the cycle
this is why i worry we may be stuck in an infinite doom loop of the party out of power promising lower prices, the incumbents getting ejected, incoming party unable to reduce prices either, rinse and repeat
I get why prominent Dems largely want to frontload talking about affordability, I do, but what’s the plan to hit the prices go down button; nobody can seem to find it

Yeah, this is basically where I stand.
Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

So, Scott Adams is gone. Through cautionary example, he showed me a valuable lesson: If you can't be grateful, don't be ungrateful or it will weigh on you like a stone.

Guy had a 30 yr newspaper run, got rich and famous, had a 2 season TV show, yet spent his life complaining that he deserved more.

I was puzzled for a moment about why DHS would release the phone footage from the murderer's point of view, since it clearly shows that the murderer was in no danger from the victim.

ken did a really great thread here that nicely articulates why i block doomers.

the only thing i’ll add is this: doomerism is a form of voter suppression. saying shit like “there won’t be elections” is saying there’s no point in fighting. it’s demotivating. fuck that.
This kind of thing does point out a real ethical dilemma: block or mute?

If Trump is really stealing spending power from Congress then it would be insanity for Democrats to vote to fund the government later this month. Shut it down until the president stops wiping his ass with the Constitution.

Wouldn't it be fun if Dems took over both the House and Senate in November? Trump would be apoplectic and powerless. And maybe SCOTUS would have to come to terms with having some additional members. They certainly earned it. Then we could go back to being a goddamn democracy.

It's good—very good, and very important—that district courts keep issuing these 100-page rulings upholding the law. It must be incredibly dispiriting to see them overturned in a two-page, lawless, unsigned order, but please, keep them coming. They expose SCOTUS' corruption like nothing else.
