On the occasion of Brigitte Bardot's death, I choose to remember Jane Birkin, the French 1960s sex symbol who didn't become a hateful bigot.

A MODEST PROPOSAL: When Trump is imprisoned, every building with his name on it is confiscated and renamed "BUILDING OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE"

Can Jimmy Fallon please make a "six-seven" joke so kids won't think it's funny anymore?

Someone asked yesterday, since Trump controls everything, what can we do?

I asked myself that question a decade ago. I'm in a unique position to not do anything: I'm an artist, I'm lazy, and I'm an introvert to the point of agoraphobia.

Trump will be parodied for decades by comedians and satirists, but I can't imagine them coming up with anything more outrageous or disgusting than the way he actually behaves every day in public.

People need to be aware that, as much damage as Trump has done this year, as many lives as he's already destroyed, as much as he's done to demolish the basic framework of American society, he's just getting started.

I'm going to post this every year until someone laughs at it.

Somebody pointed out that this is literally the plot of Wag the Dog, which makes me wonder if David Mamet called to suggest it

I wonder if anyone got fired today for posting a clip from When Harry Met Sally

Somebody mentioned the other day that Mark Burnett, the creator of The Apprentice, is our Leni Riefenstahl. The comparison is apt. Triumph of the Will made Hitler look like a messianic force of nature, and The Apprentice made Donald Trump look like a savvy businessman.

Oh man, I just remembered Reiner's performance in The Wolf of Wall Street, playing Leo's father, who is infuriated at having The Equalizer interrupted and shouts profanity all the way to the phone before answering it with an urbane Atlantic accent like a maitre-d in a 1930s romantic comedy.

Can we drop the "of the" from the acronym and just call him PUS?

A piece of shit, determined to smear himself over the entire world. Words fail. The lack of self-awareness, coupled with the intense narcissism, coupled with a deep-seated hatred of everything that the United States is supposed to stand for.

People often talk on the internet about directors who have three great movies in a row. Rob Reiner directed, in a row, This is Spinal Tap, The Sure Thing, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally..., Misery and A Few Good Men, an incredible run for any filmmaker.
