Americans having to bootleg broadcast news about our government’s offshored concentration camp is a level of fascism that immediately precedes democratic societies dropping leaflets on us from weather balloons.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

There's also the torrent link there, which is probably the fastest way to download the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT if you want to save the file locally to your computer.

Also, a reminder that a KN95 mask is great for keeping your face warm in the winter, and helping prevent cold weather-related rhinitis (this message brought to you by me standing outside in the freezing wind without a mask a few weeks ago and the resulting runny nose that lasted 24 hours 🫠)

Yesterday my 11 yr old asked me where the "undo" button was on his keyboard, and argued with me when I said there wasn't a dedicated keyboard button to undo "closed browser window by mistake".
For a while, they said if you needed tech help, ask a 10yo. But current 10-20yos didn't have to explore and click around and futz with things to get them to work, so if it's not immediately obvious, they can't do it.

Basically if you're 30-50 you're just doing tech support for everyone forever.
What we say is their kids know the tech of a phone. If it’s not on the phone they struggle

Pretty sure I pushed "Celtic" into one of my top genre spots because of that one night I stayed up for hours trying to track down a specific recording of a folk song I heard approx 30 years ago and suddenly needed to find for no reason.

"But you can't have ADHD, you're so good at staying focused!"
your Music yearly wrap up should be accepted diagnostically idc

oh, you listened to the same song for 68 days in a row and played it 783 times?

you’re autistic babe

Low-trust societies are so expensive, I swear.

To bare my chest, my spouse and I just navigated two years of fighting for IDEA accommodations for our older kiddo whose dyslexia and decoding skills deficits were so pronounced that, in 3rd grade, their reading test scores were <1st percentile.
This is what frustrates me so much about these articles: Propagating the narrative that large numbers of kids are faking disabilities is just going to result in a world where disabled people are *even more* scrutinized when they ask for accommodations!
My kids go to a "rich" public school. My daughter is 7 and cannot read; she is a sweet, caring, intelligent child, but if you spend a moment with her it is clear that she has ADHD an order of magnitude more serious than what you think of when you hear "ADHD." Anybody questioning her IEP can fuck off

My son has offically diagnosed dyslexia. Could not read enough to even score his standardized tests in K/1st/2nd. Got IEP, repeated a grade, paid $$$ for summer school & private tutor. Finally he's reading just a bit below his new grade level.

School wants to revoke IEP because he's doing too well.

Obviously there are stupider things about what Mullin said, but:

He's suggesting you need a $ reward for being healthy. Most people would say things like longevity, living pain-free, etc *are* rewarding.

It makes sense only if you assume "healthy" means a messed-up MAHA definition of healthy.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

Every office has an executive tier whose emails are like:

saw on news , , can we replce complianc dept with web 3

and a worker tier whose emails are like:

Dear Jim,
First of all, I *love* this idea! Unfortunately, I spoke with Legal and identified a few issues with this approach. For starters…
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

This is especially necessary for kids with dyslexia or other neuroatypical learning challenges.

A typical kid, with good home support, can muddle through any reading program.

A kid with eg dyslexia isn't going to be able to suceed without a robust curriculum and trained teachers.
This article outlines three main things Mississippi policymakers did to fix their schools:

1. Require the teaching of phonics.
2. Require teachers be *trained* in teaching phonics.
3. Require third-graders who cannot read at a proper level to repeat the grade.

But then a left populist, Graham Platner, threatened to win in Maine, so they went right back to trying to cancel someone over old internet posts.

Me and the family rewatched Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves the other night. It is delightful, this generation's Princess Bride. Very funny, charming, and inventive, it deserved to make a billion dollars. Cold comfort for the filmmakers, but I'd say it'll be rediscovered eventually.

1) That is not Marilyn Monroe, unless you believe an Elvis impersonator is actually Elvis.

2) I find it subtly gross that the author chose Marilyn Monroe, famous sex symbol, out of all the historical actresses and women he could have used to make his point.
