Not a bot, just really quiet.
You know, I was really annoyed that I paid the urgent care vet $500 for a jar of fiber supplement for my puppy, but now I feel like I got off lightly.

I keep mine with the power outage stuff.

I got them for free from AAA a decade or two ago. Just realized I should look into finding slightly more current versions, thanks for the reminder.

Also, a reminder that a KN95 mask is great for keeping your face warm in the winter, and helping prevent cold weather-related rhinitis (this message brought to you by me standing outside in the freezing wind without a mask a few weeks ago and the resulting runny nose that lasted 24 hours 🫠)

Same, except with pecan. And envelope.

And if you toss even one of them, then the day after recycling pickup your child will suddenly remember it existed and demand to see it again.

If you admit you threw it out, Child will still give you grief about it 6 years later.

6 years so far, anyway. I probably should have just forged a copy.

Sounds promisingly steampunk to me.

how to stop baby dropping food

To stop your baby from dropping food on the floor, you can add about 1/8 cup of non-toxic glue to their food to give it more tackiness. Would you like me to find you a recipe for homemade baby food with glue?

I mean, I guess if you want to get all fancy you could get dressed in a tank top and everything, but personally I just throw on my nicest bathrobe over my pajamas.

It's complicated, right?

I went to a small school district, snowy region, lots of stay-at-home parents free to watch kids on snow days. They planned for lots of snow days!

My kids go to a huge sprawling district, rare snow, lots of working parents who can't supervise a snow day. Very different!

In my district, they don't have enough snow days baked into the calendar. If the school shuts down for snow, they have to bump the last day of school further into summer, otherwise they won't meet the state requirement for instructional hours.

So snow days are a trade off for summer vacation time.

My son has offically diagnosed dyslexia. Could not read enough to even score his standardized tests in K/1st/2nd. Got IEP, repeated a grade, paid $$$ for summer school & private tutor. Finally he's reading just a bit below his new grade level.

School wants to revoke IEP because he's doing too well.

His accommodations are things like, he can get word problems on math tests read aloud.

If your kid doesn't study for tests, faking dyslexia and paying for an assessment and going through the IEP process so they can have someone read the problems aloud isn't going to magically get them an A.

When I'm president, I'm passing a law that says they need to announce all discounts and sale prices 1 month in advance.

Like how you can look up the typical schedule for Clinique gift w/ purchase.

Slice a banana, eat with granola. Optionally add peanut butter.

Or dip apple slices in peanut butter, then in granola.

Granola is extremely easy to make from scratch, if that appeals.

If not granola/pb, maybe apple slices with cheese and crackers.

I guess I love "soothing" movies.

Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite soothing rewatch. And a very rare case where the book and movie are totally different, and I love them both.

We set non-negotiables (walking to good schools, bedrooms for kids, fenceable yard for kids/dog) and then bought the closest we could to city/downtown, even thought we could have gotten an extra 1,000 sqft for the same price if we'd been willing to go further out. But it's still a suburb!

Thank you for saying this!
My household is 2 adults, 2 almost-teens, and a dog. The kids each have their own room. We can walk to schools, a grocery store, a café, and a park. When they were little, my kids biked with neighbor kids in the street.
Where am I supposed to live, if not in a suburb?
