Rich liberals wouldn’t want to be told that they “voted for” the carpet bombing of Gaza. But they don’t want to be held to the standard to which they’re holding minimum wage waitresses organizing to defend their deported friend and colleague.
New piece: Most Trump voters did not "vote to deport moms." They voted bc inflation was high under Biden, to deport criminals, or something else. Many do not support Trump's policies. Welcoming those voters back into the tent is key to future Dem victory.

Not all Trump voters "voted for this"
Trump’s policy agenda is very unpopular, including with many of his supporters. To win the next election, Democrats need to welcome regretful Trump voters back under the tent

I'm in the fast lane doing the speed limit because that's as fast as you can go 😊 everybody beeps at me to thank me for keeping them safe
Agreed. Some people go faster the speed limit and some people stay in the left longer than needed, it happens. This Speed Limit Crusader dufus filling the left lane because "its not my problem ur breaking the law" is a good example of why many things in life are worse than they need to be.

A group of youths beat me with golf clubs. Though painful, it was heartening seeing young people going outside and getting involved with the community. This optimism may have something to do with parts of my brain now being exposed to the air and sun, but I'm tired of pessimism and now choose joy.

i do not see how it is helpful to our political project as communists to label everyone who doesn’t already agree with us as “stupid.” seems kinda intuitive, honestly. the people who don’t agree with us are the very people we desperately need to convince :)

so excited to be finished writing my french exam tomorrow so that i can delete duolingo from my phone and never look back. they make it so fuckin annoying to use if you’re not willing to spend $200 upfront. a nearly grindr-level bombardment of ads

This is my favorite kind of AI take: phrased as a dunk but immediately grants the central complaint that most people are actually making about LLMs, which is that they do not and cannot do the thing they’re widely marketed to do
Bluesky lives in a fantasy world were LLMs are useless plagiarism machines. When the reality is they generally work. Just not well enough for the way the masses are using them. Most people can’t handle something that is sometimes wrong.
I encounter more and more people in real life lately who think AI genuinely is some kind of truth machine and it feels like they are living on a different planet in a way that is just incredibly distressing

i mean, yeah it sucks that the leafs are losing in yet another game seven but when you consider the fact that this is the furthest they’ve advanced in the playoffs since 2002, ya gotta just take the wins where you can find ’em. or failing that — the “least immediate losses”
