I have a sneaking suspicion that Majority Leader Thune does not like Speaker Johnson very much.
Mike Johnson says he's talked to Thune & he's "very confident that when this moves forward in the process - if & when it is processed in the Senate, which is no certainty - they will take the time methodically to do what we have not been allowed to do in the House. To amend this discharge petition."

I want to take a moment to thank the entire Elias Law Group team who worked on the Texas redistricting case as well as our fearless clients. The thirteen Black and Latino voters we represented stood up to challenge Texas's unprecedented mid-decade redistricting. We all ow them a debt of gratitude.

Also, the co-discovered has a big asterisk on it because if we are being honest he and Crick stole Rosalind Franklin's work and she never got recognition for the discovery which was a central piece to decoding the double helix structure.

The Roberts Court has found a minority to protect—not a racial or religious one, but a political party whose power will endure without electoral majority support. Louisiana v. Callais could hand Republicans a dozen House seats and make that imbalance permanent. This is autocratic legalism in action.
"We the People" vs. "We the Court"
How the Supreme Court is dismantling voting rights to entrench minority rule.

That the networks don't have a live feed from Portland running in the corner is journalistic malpractice.
Trump: "Portland, I mean -- every time I look at that place it's burning down. There are fires all over the place. When a store -- there are very few of them left -- but when a store owner rebuilds a store they build it out of plywood. They don't put up storefronts anymore. They just put wood up."

For 26 but especially 2028 it's time for Democrats to make clear that the current Supreme Court will have to be reformed (expanded in number, reformed in structure) to allow popular govt to continue in the United States. Not so much a litmus test as precondition for any other promise to be credible.

Democrats should never vote to fund a government that's waging war on its own citizens and firing officials *because* they insist on following court orders instead of breaking the law. Let Senate Republicans nuke the filibuster. None of this is normal and it shouldn't be treated as such.

I have serious doubts as to whether, after all of its politically-motivated firings, the FBI has the capacity and expertise to actually investigate Kirk’s murder. The lawsuit filed today against Patel and the Bureau describes a complete clown show that leaves all of us less safe

Baltimore is currently experiencing its lowest homicide rate in 50 years, and it’s not because they iNVeStEd iN pOLiCe, it’s because they invested in community programs to facilitate conflict resolution, address mental health, address poverty, and give kids fun and meaningful things to do
Baltimore literally halved its murder rate recently.
Trump mentions NYC, Baltimore, and Oakland, says "they're so far gone," and adds, "this will go further. We'll starting very strongly with DC."

I worked at Planned Parenthood.

They diagnose cancers while still treatable. They help women decide what birth control works for them. They help those working through mental health challenges.

Defunding them just harms people who already struggle to find places to get care.

She’s right.

Mass deportations require an authoritarian infrastructure. ICE will now have funds comparable to a Western military.
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Everyone should be speaking up about this. Masks and no ID required is a ridiculous recipe for horrors. @MarshaBlackburn & @SenJohnson & Sexton should be banning it, not protecting it.

How corrupt is the Roberts court? It is inconceivable that the spate of more-power-for-Trump decisions from the Roberts court would have gone the same way if Harris was president.

We all know what's going on. The extreme right owns the government. It is dismantling democracy and the rule of law.

Goes without saying that by ICE what we really mean is the Stephen Miller Domestic Terror All-Star Band. If you ever wondered "what would it be like if the government remade the 1870's Klan and gave them the military budget of France," this is the era for you
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
