On top of everything else, graduating into an economy where employers hold all the cards is awful for your personal growth once you DO get a full-time job.
This is what's so infuriating about people trying to retcon 2010s austerity as some genius political jiu-jitsu instead of a huge failure. Long term unemployment in your 20s is insanely damaging.

You simply cannot measure how much I prefer being 41 over being 13.
The last couple of years before high school are great years, maybe the least demanding years of your whole life. It’s easy for people to feel nostalgic about that.
