election night is going to be about Spanberger and Mamdani, with both factions claiming proof of concept, and the discourse will be a nightmare
VA and NJ both being decisive, like a landslide in VA and a decisive win in NJ (ie a bit of an upset from the current vibes of maybe it'll be close) might be enough in and of themselves, but i think a lot of democrats are holding their breath and waiting to see where things fall

Had a fun time in Vancouver for APSA. My favorite interaction was with an older guy who asked me what I was in town for. I told him a political science conference. He paused for a second, then said "Well, there sure are lots of views in the world." I said there sure are, and he got off the elevator.

One of the privileges of tenure is being able to send a somewhat prickly message in response to a journal that was mildly condescending in their email desk-rejecting my submission. It won't change the outcome, but at least I feel a little better!
