It’s hard to imagine what could ever bring down a president again if an infamous pedophile sex trafficker writing that the president was doing sex crimes at his house doesn’t meet the standard. That’s sort of a point of no return in a presidency full of them.

Reagan was like Joe Free Trade. He and Thatcher are the avatars of the neoclassical economics resurgence, trade liberalization, etc. good or bad this is pure reality. The idea that this conversation is even happening shows how much we’re in the mad king 2+2=7 world.
Trump: "They cheated on a commercial. Ronald Reagan loved tariffs and they said he didn't. And I guess it was AI or something. They cheated badly. Canada got caught cheating on a commercial. Can you believe it?"

This is a great competitor for driving home how limply Dems fight in culture and info wars. Republicans were far more vocal—and pretended to be so much angrier—about the Cracker Barrel logo than Dems are about the demolition of the White House to build a gilded ballroom paid for with bribe money.
Some, but it's relatively tepid. It's not as strong as the pushback against the change in the Cracker Barrel corporate logo.

Republican (group chat): We love Hitler! Gas Chambers were awesome!

Vance: Haha!

The media trots out the "deplorable" comment from a decade ago to castigate the left. Once a week now Trump implies that the military should destroy democrats, and it is just how things are.

If you take the Trump/MAGA/GOP threat to US Constitutional democracy seriously—and I really think you should—then things getting worse faster, before Trump has consolidated authoritarian power, is beneficial, not detrimental.

If Democrats don't fight now, they might never have another real chance.
Opinion | Democrats shouldn’t bail out Trump as the shutdown drags on
The best time for the opposition to take a stand, rather than settle for untrustworthy promises, is right now.

I’m glad Murphy is out there saying these things in a clear and succinct way, because Schumer sure as hell isn’t. We’d be better off with Murphy as minority leader, because he seems to really understand the fight.
Everyone should listen to Chris Murphy's extraordinary warning about Trump on our pod. First, he says the logic must be that the more lawless he gets, the stiffer the resistance.

"If I give in and consent to these kinds of tactics then it just normalizes it all." 1/

An unprecedented violation of our civic and Constitutional traditions. Calling every military leader in the world back to the U.S. to hear a wildly inappropriate partisan campaign speech followed by a fascist call to use the military against Americans.

There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

More than that. "The FBI ***recorded*** Tom Homan taking the money "after indicating he could help the agents — who were posing as business executives — win government contracts in a second Trump administration."
Tom Homan was investigated for accepting $50,000 from undercover FBI agents. Trump's DOJ shut it down.

The FBI and Justice officials closed the investigation, which a Justice Department appointee had called a “deep state” probe in early 2025.

The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial.

Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.
