This just seems like the right thing to keep pinned to my profile.
I never workshop any of my dumb posts. That’s the Elliot Blake™️ social media guarantee.
i'm generally pretty live and let live about social media as long as no one is actively being harmed, but i am never gonna be able to take "collectively workshopped and artisanally-crafted shitposting for cloutmaxing purposes" seriously, i'm sorry

pretty wild that Netflix is bragging about all the people who drove to a MOVIE THEATER to have a SHARED EXPERIENCE for a piece of filmed entertainment who had a great time

This will kill theatrical. Full stop.
Netflix is reportedly interested in giving a 17-day theatrical window for Warner Bros films once they acquire the studio.

Guess how many cognitive exams they gave my dad in the twelve months after he was referred to a dementia specialist by his doctor. After each one, they assured him that he “did great.”

one of my recent preoccupations is the visceral hostility the MAGA right has for the histories and traditions of the United States. these are people who spit on the Declaration and salute third-rate European despots!
It's striking that progressives like Tim Walz and Zohran Mamdani evoke the middle American attitude that, "Yes, we can fix these social problems because we're Americans and it's the right thing to do!" While the "America first" right only emulates failed and failing nation-states elsewhere.

Took a walk around the block and got startled by about 50 green parrots flying out of a big tree we were headed towards, and reader, I ducked. Like a doofus.

I’ve lived away from Baltimore longer now than I lived in Baltimore, but I grew up there and I still love my old hometown.
A grand Baltimore (Hampden) tradition. Happy New Year!

Let’s talk about cocktail sauce. Ketchup, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice. A delicious combination, and yet we only use it in shrimp cocktail. Seems like a missed opportunity.

I don’t know if the Astros were trying to re-sign Framber Valdez, but with Imai off the board, I wonder if that makes the Orioles the most likely landing spot for him now.

It’s not uncommon to do CT scans of the heart.
Trump phoned the WSJ when he learned they were doing a health story. Complained of the MRI coverage and says now he never had an MRI just a CT scan. Also says he takes a high daily dose of aspirin.
“I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart. I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart.”
President Trump tells the Wall Street Journal that the large dose of aspirin he chooses to take daily has caused him to bruise easily. www.wsj.com/us-news/as-signs-...

Here’s what’s coming from me in 2026: an unannounced audio drama; my sci-fi novella INTO THE GREAT; some more TV (I think). Also this year: a lot of development, including an animated feature project, two adult animation TV projects, possibly a comic I wrote in 2025, and two more audio projects.

So the fireworks were more intense in my area than in past years but were over sooner, and my theory is that the knuckleheads firing them off were happy nothing would catch fire in the rain, but stopped earlier because it really started coming down hard.
Fireworks barrage not tamped down by the rain.
This zoned out dog sincerely hopes the traditional L.A.-area New Year’s illegal fireworks barrage is tamped down by the rain.

Trump admits to taking more aspirin than his docs recommend: “They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart. I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?”

What could possibly go wrong! (2/6)

If your blood is primarily made up of McDonald’s food products, taking more aspirin than advised isn’t going to thin it out so it pours through the heart more easily. His arteries must look like a drive-thru.
Finally, Trump's diet! Oh my god. The piece closes with RNC Chair Joe Gruters saying he was "shocked" to witness Trump eat "french fries, a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburger, a Big Mac and a Filet-O-Fish" in one sitting (5/6)
