Oh cool, indentured servitude. Legally recognised throughout the democratic world as a form of unfree labour aka slavery. Also literally how the people traffickers that this legislation is supposedly meant to stop imprison their victims.
Watching the Mahmood announcement and debate. Tory backbencher (Karen Bradley) suggests putting refugees into debt and making them repay during the rest of their lives. Mahmood says she’ll think about it.

Anything advertised to me on instagram immediately feels like a scam, even if it's a site I've used many times before.

It’s the same thing as the terfery really: it’s just being an arsehole and a busybody, seething at people who are just quietly going about their business without harming or bothering anyone.

The end of Stranger Things is a big deal for me, someone who has not seen a second of the show but wore Stranger Things socks for several years after getting an amazing bulk buy clearance deal.

Started playing Where the Winds Meet and I lasted like 30 seconds before the voice-acting was so grating that I had to change it to Chinese dialogue so it didn't piss me off.

Any book where I see this shit on the back in a bookshop I immediately put down never to think about again.
I get why authors are compelled to do it, but few things make me want to read a book/story less than those tropelist pointing to the book marketing banners. I really wish they'd go away, but I guess they Do work as a marketing tactic on more people than they're off-putting to.

Again, it would be hugely useful if the lobby hacks could get visibly tattooed with the sigils of their patrons like the familiars in Blade, so we can easily tell who owns which ones,

At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

When Bruce Springsteen sang "at night, we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines", he was talking about people who log on to LinkedIn after 6pm to write fanfiction about how good they are at their job.

As an aging punk who often feels painfully disconnected from the thing that gave my life meaning for so long the new Home Front record's weaponised ruefulness is designed in a lab to make me feel things.

Wait no the actual funniest part is that Oates was saying Musk is so obviously miserable and lonely that life's simplest pleasures are beyond him but his greasy, flat brain couldn't understand that point so he just went "if I haven't seen any movies explain why I've seen this movie"

It is really funny the NY Times has a reporter whose "beat" is college campus cancel culture shit. That's like having a reporter reporting on WWE storylines
He responded to a comment with a nakedly biased take on what's been occurring for the past decade or so on college campuses!
