You see me now, a veteran of a thousand Twitter Wars

I been postin' on the edge so long, where the winds of Discourse roar

I'm young enough to shitpost, and far too old to meme

All the bans are on the inside

I'm not sure that there's anything left of me!
Realizing that my digging up the "Pull Me Under" video for @samthielman.com's thread about 90s one-hit wonders is the 1st time I've heard the radio edit since it was an actual radio hit when I was young. I've seen Dream Theater 5x+know the long version by heart. I forgot how the radio cut feels.

Even though the ending will make me sad, I am so incredibly hyped for Eddie Kingston/Samoa Joe next week. It's going to be stupid and beautiful and we're all going to wonder how either of these idiots can stand when it's over.

Disappointed to see this. 160 union workers are fighting for a fair contract at Individualized Shirts, a US factory that makes high-end men's button-ups. The managers there have rejected the union's request for fair wages and health insurance. The union is asking for support 🧵

TN05 in the general is even more potentially doable so tomorrow we get up and start working for Chaz Molder to win 335 days from now. We rest and we keep building. We hit up d7 backers to phone bank and stuff envelopes and even go knock doors since 5 is part of the same city. We do not quit.

southern suburbs are not new jersey suburbs. they are even more segregated and even more racist (and have never, ever voted for Democrats even in Obama's wins). but Nashville's burbs are the kind we need to make up ground in to absolutely cripple the Republican party

Today marks one year since the Dec. 3, 2024 martial law declaration that rocked South Korea and still reverberates today. What’s on my mind today is the grit of South Koreans who rushed to the National Assembly that night, in freezing weather, to demand a return to democratic government.

Every trans person who is on a knife edge. On one side is employment for another day. On the other is whether a random transphobe posts "Ick, gross, trans person" with your picture and employer name, and it goes viral. You will get fired, from pretty much any company, if that happens to you.
When writing this piece, I kept thinking back to this Instagram post I saw from a trans woman the other day. This is what I'm talking about. Watch this:

the tl;dr is

anti-abortion and right-wing funders, including some of the richest mf's on earth, are absolutely burning cash in US elections right now because even with gaming the system, they can't get the results they want

i've had a couple of whiskeys so either i'm going to have more and get into details or have more and avoid details but

the GOP and GOP-aligned groups continue to flail in local/state elections that they have openly invested in, deeply, and when they win by inches it's a huge sign of actual loss

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

A lot of DISABLED people don't realize this! My visual impairment is obvious and easily confirmed. I had no idea what my comrades with purely invisible disabilities went thru til I was trying to get ADHD accommodations in my 40s.
I think a lot of people don't realize how difficult it is to get accommodations for disability. in school, at work. there are invariably tons of hoops; it's slow. often it's humiliating.

NGOs are fundamentally libertarian solution to problems that should usually be handled by large, impersonal government agencies mostly staffed by people who are competent but don't "care" *too* much.
I would argue pretty strenuously that overreliance on nonprofits for social services is, in fact, a centrist position at best. NGO world cloaks itself in progressivism by adhering to cultural signifiers of social justice. Endless land acknowledgements as they take public jobs from union workers.

I don't know why everyone is so shocked at Trump napping during that praise service with the cabinet earlier today. With that kind of continuous oral stimulation, I'd probably sleep thru refractory periods too.

The official policy of the Trump Administration is ignorant bigotry. We’re asked, under principles including charity, to assume that people support the administration despite that policy, not specifically because of it. I am increasingly unwilling to extend that charity.

Doctors used to think that Tourette Syndrome was uncommon in Black people. Turned out that Black kids with TS were more likely to be labeled troublemakers than seen as kids who might have a disability, which was one factor in Black populations having less access to diagnosis. Similar situation.

One thing I think people who aren’t super into ska don’t realize is that the three waves of ska are defined not only by time period but by country and culture — Jamaica, UK, US

For a proper fourth wave, we need a country with a strong pop music culture to adopt ska. Looking at you, Korea

K-Ska
I don't see why I have to be the one to determine the next wave of Ska, it's too much pressure I never asked for that responsibility

Hey, remember when John Doyle said everyone who'd been sexually abused as a child should be locked up for life in mental institutions, because otherwise they'd all become abusers themselves? Because I sure as fuck do.

My bipartisan IRS MATH Act with Senator Bill Cassidy is now law.

Now, if you mess up your taxes, the IRS has to tell you where you made a mistake and how to fix it.

No more spending a fortune on lawyers or hours to find errors.

That means fewer headaches and more money in your pocket.
