Mississippi has long failed to count and report all deaths in local jails that serve the state’s 82 counties, despite a federal requirement to do so. These often dangerous facilities operate virtually free of any state oversight.

This is what Dems are drawing attention to and want fixed. Now, not later.

I warned last October that if Donald Trump returned to the White House, the fate of the free press would depend on the willingness of corporate media executives to fight for it.

It's not going well. www.mediamatters.org/donald-trump...

Just a quick note: Federalizing the D.C. National Guard is not the same thing as “martial law.” I’m not saying that makes it good, but martial law is when the military *supplants* civil government, not just doing law enforcement. Don’t credit him with more power than he has (because he’ll take it)

Thousands of Ohio children test positive for elevated blood-lead levels each year, with the actual number likely higher due to under-testing.

As ICE disappears our neighbors, LP leader Brad Lander has been regularly escorting immigrants to their check-ins. Today, in a continuing and troubling trend of intimidation against local officials, ICE arrested him and is currently in custody.

We demand his immediate release.
Lander just got detained by federal agents as he tried to escort a man out of the courtroom. Lander was taken in an elevator with masked agents, along with one member of his NYPD security detail.

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

As of today, Elon Musk is thought to be responsible for the death of 300,000 adults and kids due to the illegal closure of USAID (source: www.impactcounter.com/dashboard?vi...)

That's a 103 deaths per hour, each day. And it will get worse.

His legacy is one of death, destruction, and failure.

Warnock: Georgia officials said they were sorry but their hands were tied, you can’t vote the first weekend of the runoff after the holiday so I decided to untie them, I sued them. And I won… They appealed asking for emergency relief. Emergency relief from what? People voting?

Did you know the “weekend” and working only 8 hours per day used to be considered a radical, liberal idea?

139 years ago today, in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 7 workers (including a 13 yo) lost their lives to advance this revolutionary idea.

Pope Francis lifted the world as he led the Church with his profound moral voice. As he returns to God, may his call to humility and concern for the least among us continue to resound.

I just heard Pope Frances has passed on and the first thing I see is a long, gaseous essay on how awful he was to urge us to feed the poor and tend the sick and get out of people’s sex lives. American Catholics always thinking they’re fully qualified to throw the first stone.

There are literally hundreds of races in May, and hard to keep up. I got some very helpful answers when I asked about Texas yesterday, so I'm switching gears to Pennsylvania!
