The most recent U.S. ambassador to Viktor Orban’s Hungary: “After years watching Hungary suffocate under the weight of its democratic collapse, I came to understand that the real danger of a strongman isn’t his tactics; it’s how others, especially those with power, justify their acquiescence.”

Beware of all of our national corporate media who is quickly trying to manufacture consent for war with Iran. Be conscious of where you are getting news from. Many international sites are much better.

🚨 The drumbeats of war have been sounding for a long time—today, they’ve become deafening. We are now at war with Iran. This moment didn’t come out of nowhere. 1/

So many awesome #juneteenth events in #STL today. While there is a national movement to erase Black history and Black Excellence, I’m so proud that our city chooses to elevate, rather than erase.

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process.

But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things.

That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

Brad is a STL native and an amazing human. I’ve had the pleasure of serving with him on the @localprogress.bsky.social board for many years. May we all have the courage of our convictions like @nyccomptroller.bsky.social. #StandWithBrad #AbolishIce
As ICE disappears our neighbors, LP leader Brad Lander has been regularly escorting immigrants to their check-ins. Today, in a continuing and troubling trend of intimidation against local officials, ICE arrested him and is currently in custody.

We demand his immediate release.
Lander just got detained by federal agents as he tried to escort a man out of the courtroom. Lander was taken in an elevator with masked agents, along with one member of his NYPD security detail.

FEMA is finally on the way.
Mayor Spencer informed me that the City’s request for a federal disaster declaration has been approved. I want to thank her administration and the Board of Aldermen, as well as the Governor and other elected officials who advocated for survivors of the May 16th tornado.

The correct way to connect the authoritarian presence in LA and the Big Beautiful Bill is that the bill gives the government the resources to do this in dozens of cities at once. So if you don't like what's happening in LA, it's coming to your town if the bill passes.

Skeptics say my childcare $10 day bill that pays workers $20 hour is pie in the sky. They are wrong. New Mexico shows you can make childcare free & raise wages for providers. Dems need to dream big to improve life for working families.

The state, which has long ranked worst in the US for child wellbeing, became the first and only in the country to offer free childcare to a majority of families
