MYTH: The time has passed for tornado recovery legislation.

FACT: Board Bills 93, 94, and 95 allocate over $13 million to supporting winter shelters for residents struggling to find it, whether unhoused due to the tornado or otherwise.

The Board of Aldermen sends a special "willkommen" to our friends from Stuttgart, our sister city of 65 years!

Their visit was a bright spot this week. Next time, let’s take advantage of that nonstop flight to Germany and meet on your side of the Atlantic! ✈️

From tornado recovery to zoning upgrades, there's a lot going on in St. Louis, so I swung by Lafayette Square to provide residents with an update. 📰

A special thanks to the neighborhood association for having me. It's always a pleasure to stop in!

Today, we honor the brave friends, family, and neighbors who served.

Let’s match that gratitude with action and ensure every veteran has access to the quality care and opportunities they deserve when they return home.

Happy Veterans Day, St. Louis.

Sixty years ago, Percy Green made headlines when he scaled the Arch to protest discrimination in the construction trades.

Mr. Green's courage has inspired generations of activists. It was a pleasure to welcome him to the Board of Aldermen to present him with a resolution in his honor!

Temperatures are dropping, and the number of residents seeking shelter is likely to grow as those living in tornado-damaged homes are forced to move out.

Each year, housing gets less affordable. We must increase the supply of affordable units.

Well-run SROs are one of the creative ways we can bring down costs and create pathways for the unhoused. I salute Marquitta and hope to see others follow suit!

No matter your pursuit—history, biology, or business—you have the ability to create lasting, positive change.

Thanks to Dr. Smyth and SLU for having me speak with his Social Change Leadership class. As a former teacher, it’s always a pleasure to be back in the classroom! 🍎

Federal and state laws can make local governance tricky. Even when language seems to align, subtle differences can spark legal battles.

In this Deep Dive, I unpack how federal and state laws, and even our charter, complicate lawmaking.

In 2024, City leaders commissioned a compensation study to find out how we stacked up against surrounding municipalities and peer cities.

Today, those insights are guiding our efforts to raise wages so we can deliver the services our community deserves.

Six months after the tornado, an estimated 1,500 people remain without shelter—and that's likely an undercount. As winter sets in, we must do everything we can to keep our unhoused neighbors out of the cold.

I’m glad the state is stepping up to help families during the shutdown, but that support can only go so far.

Governor Kehoe should be pressing his party to reopen the federal government and restore the programs that keep 650,000 Missourians fed.

Today, Jordan from Vivent Health gave me a tour of their Downtown facility—where they provide HIV/AIDS, dental, and behavioral care, plus food support.

As federal leaders undermine healthcare, community-focused organizations like Vivent are essential to filling the gaps.
