I still think Twitter has a better timeline system than Blue Sky. Seems better with relevancy and maybe diversity of authorship.

You should have been our President. :(
This week, the VA ended collective bargaining for nearly all of its employees.

The Trump administration has made it very clear that it does not want to be held accountable by anyone — especially unions.

We will not sit by while they union-bust their way to a privatized VA.
VA terminates union contracts, as WH labor actions hit veterans again
The Trump crackdown on the federal workforce continues, with veterans bearing the brunt of the cuts.

So what do the trends suggest is ahead of us? In my opinion, the diversity of antibodies today in the population are high enough that we probably won't see another Omicron event. But we could see more Pirola like events. It's hard to predict how often that may occur.

BlueSky always seems so much more serene than Twitter. Unfortunately, some of us like the rough-and-tumble. 😂

I still need to tweak my BlueSky algo as viewing by chronological posts makes it hard to find less frequent posters. 🤔

Scary things that you may have recently read headlines about that it turned out you didn’t have to worry about include: microplastics in your brain, black plastic spatulas, intermittent fasting, and plant based meat alternatives.

Also, no, you do not eat a credit card’s worth of plastic a month.

I thought she was calling out Republicans in California, e.g. Young Kim(?). Don't remember her calling out Democrats in California. She mostly gave them credit for resisting Trump, e.g. California's 2 senators not supporting the new spending bill.

What some people aren’t factoring into their analysis is the reality that companies were buying tons of inventory to beat the tariffs.
That’s cash taken from being able to invest or hire. In fact the probably cut costs and jobs as a result.

Came across this video. And it's scary how almost everyone, no matter the country or field, had miserable experience with their doctorates. Long work hours; unemployment and no job prospects; systemic sexism, racism, classism; horrible mental health.

Need to fix the Blue Sky algorithm or my feed somehow so I can get the latest posts from each of the people I tried following not just all the latest posts. Oversamples certain authors.

This could have been done for COVID.
In October, Rwanda reported its first Marburg virus outbreak, for which there are no vaccines or treatments. Following a COVID-19-style mass test, track, and trace operation, the case fatality rate plummeted, and the outbreak has now been declared over. NPR https://buff.ly/49f7esn

An 'unprecedented' good news story about a deadly viral outbreak
The death rate for Marburg virus can be as high as 90%. There are no approved vaccines and treatments. So how did Rwanda achieve what one doctor calls an "unprecedented" success in controlling its…

Best part of Bluesky has to be, "wait I can actually post, reply, and reblog!?" There isn't some weird daily quota?

Hopefully like the pre-Musk Twitter or maybe just Twitter as it's now "X Formerly Twitter".

4/ Parody, satire, or fan accounts are allowed on Bluesky, but they must clearly label themselves in both the display name and bio to help others know the account isn’t official. Accounts with only one of these elements will receive an impersonation label.

The most interesting things I realized about Twitter were
(1) how much science you could potentially learn
(2) how your responses could be noticed by the people you were commenting on (creators, experts, etc...)
(3) how great a resource it was for crises/emergencies.
But there were also users for whom it became a real forum for discussion. For wonks of various kinds, it became where you heard about the latest research, where you put out your thoughts where people you wanted to influence would hear them, etc. 3/

This is the same magazine that had an article saying letting kids be infected with COVID was fine or something, because there were quite a few diseases that were nicer in children than adults (e.g. Chicken Pox). My vague recollection of history was children tended to die a lot from diseases.
Gift article. "For most of human history, half of all children died before reaching age 15; that number is down to just 4 percent worldwide, and far lower in developed countries, with vaccines one of the major drivers of improved life expectancy." Medsky www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...
