I am Alaska-grown meat. (It’s almost summer. It was probably a 4.2.) Naps and grilled cheese are on my family’s coat of arms. I show my love through food and spreadsheets. She/her.
I had a former boss who had this laugh he always used when he was ending a meeting. You could hear it through the door and know it was about done.

I need one of those or Luke’s below for “hey, I’m about out of interaction energy now.”
So when you are at someone’s house and you want to leave do you look at your watch and say “well I should really -“ or do you kinda slap your legs and say “welp” and stand up

Currently sitting next to a lovely fire with a great view of the water with @garyseven.bsky.social, regretting my decision to look up the difference between a boat and a ship.

Sometimes I just need a black and white answer with a mnemonic to remember!

Last time I wore a dress through security they gave me an extra pat down because the invasive scanner couldn’t see my body clearly enough.

Not to mention our seats get ever more crammed together.

Maybe consider we dress for the realities of air travel today, sport.
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

I was far too old before realizing this doesn’t mean it’s dark for 66 days, and they still have variations of light to enjoy.

Still profound to think of watching it go. I imagine you must have to care for yourself and others to make it through the dark, as a November-is-the-hardest Alaskan.
The sun just set in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, for the season (71.29°N). It will rise again in 66 days (January 23rd). Good night. 🥱 @alaskawx.bsky.social

Heartbroken to lose this storyteller and musician at such an early age.

I have other favorite Todd Snider songs and stories, but “Play a Train Song” is the contractually obligated choice today.

You there. I want you to say, aloud, at some point today "I'm really glad I'm good at..." And then you're gonna say something you think you do pretty well.

If you don't think you do anything pretty well, I want you to say "one little thing that makes me unique is..."

And if you can't do either?

Halloween flick #9, Cocaine Bear, with @garyseven.bsky.social. Absurdity has been good self care this year, and this was a welcome inclusion.

Halloween flick #8, Jaws, with @garyseven.bsky.social. Seeing this 50th anniversary edition in the theatre with a crowd to cheer at lines like “You’re gonna need a bigger boat” was pretty awesome.

Halloween flick #7, The Monkey, with @garyseven.bsky.social. What a fun gore fest with a side exploration of grief and shared custody.

Oh you're trying to say the cost of living is skyrocketing?

Donald Trump can't hear you over the sound of bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House to build a new grand ballroom.

Halloween flick #6, Ready or Not. Something satisfying about a woman fighting back against billionaires that consider her life an expendable game, and some excellent gore and laughs. I also enjoyed watching her wedding dress slowly evolve as the night progressed.

Halloween flick #5, Drop, this one with @garyseven.bsky.social. Toss up for the best lines: “Yahtzee.” Or “My horoscope was right.”

Western Alaska was hit hard by the recent storms. Houses floated away in Kipnuk, houses flipped over, people lost everything from the flooding that came with the storms. Please donate if you can. This group has a long history of supporting AK communities.

Halloween flick #4 (gonna be a low year), The Dark Crystal. I dig these retro movies on the big screen, and it was interesting to see it was adult eyes. Some really scary visuals for a kid, and some amazingly creative world building at the edges.

When confronted with an empty toner cartridge, I am reminded of my high school ASVAB test. Amidst overall great scores, my spatial/mechanical scores were in the ~30th percentile. I remember thinking “how would you even know that?” in that section.

But today, today? I defeated that effing copier.
