Thanks to some good friends keeping eyes out at ewaste, I ended up with this Tricaster Pro 2.0 which is built on a Core 2 Shuttle machine. Because of course I did.
The board had blown caps so I swapped with my working XP Shuttle (I have Plans™), hit power, and it came to life! Kinda.

I had a great time visiting the P(e)C(e)B(e) exhibition, open through Jan 2nd at the Zagreb Technical museum, curated by the Radiona hackerspace.
Along with a bunch of other fun objects, you can see two pieces from my collection: an Orao computer logic board and the PCB from an Iskra ETA telephone!

I’ve been using this set of 30 pin SIMMs for over a year and never noticed this little oddity. I feel like @nanoraptor.danamania.com is trolling me in real life. (Regular scrolling may crop the image and miss the oddity)

Upgraded my Synology NAS (DS920+) with a 2.5Gbe usb network adapter. Required a 3rd party driver from github.com/bb-qq/r8152 and a reboot. Happily network performance has gone from just shy of 1Gb/s to a steady 2.2~2.3Gb/s. File copies finish in nearly half the time. An upgrade well worth the $35.

It's amazing to see how late the M2 was being primed as the new hot system - just a few months away from being cancelled and despite being a no-show at E3 the previous year.
