I saw the title and was like "wait what about the MailStation" but it turned out to be a whole video about the MailStation

I get e-mails about every year or so from someone that discovers them, tries making something useful, and then gives up

Maybe it can be you next!

Um.
I think we're going to need to hear a little bit more about this "residual data" from cameras people have installed in their homes.

Shareware Heroes: The renegades who redefined gaming at the dawn of the internet

This carbon monoxide detector beeped and now shows "End"

It has ample battery but it decided its productive life of 10 years has been lived and it knows it can no longer function and must be discarded

I don't know why but it made me sad, like watching the Terminator descend into that steel vat

i wonder what metrics could be used by a utility app to disable touch ID in a situation like this, like how iPhones disable face ID if the face scanned looks very different

coming out of suspend with no home wi-fi signal in range? a long delay between waking up and a finger being scanned?
The FBI was able to access Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson's Signal messages because she used Signal on her work laptop. The laptop accepted Touch ID for authentication, meaning the agents were allowed to require her to unlock it. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

@actionretro.bsky.social fwiw, that version of MacTCP you installed on your latest Mac Plus video from the Garden is old (2.0.6) and you likely want 2.1 which no longer has that terrible class a/b/c selector that is hard to figure out, and has bug fixes
