I created PicoGUS, an ISA card that can emulate sound cards like the Gravis Ultrasound, Sound Blaster, and MPU-401: https://picog.us

I make things for old computers and like using them in fun ways. Most people know me for PicoGUS, a sound card emulator for mid-90s PCs. I'm making a card for the Sharp X68000 now, and when I get the chance I try to do things like hook an old Macintosh up to barbed wire and print over it.

BlueSCSI 🤝 PicoIDE

Welcome to the truly open hardware & open source retro storage revolution.

We've worked together to make this awesome front panel work in both PicoIDE and BlueSCSI.
Are you ready for #PicoIDE? It seems to be telling me it's ready. Coming soon: ATAPI optical disc emulation and IDE hard drive emulation. picoide.com

When there’s a slow moving train going through town and there’s only one road overpass that goes over the train tracks, getting to the other side of town turns into a topology problem

Why am I taking a selfie in front of a random office building? This is a former Maxtor office and where several versions of the ATA/ATAPI spec were written. While working on #PicoIDE I noticed that the work address of the editor was literally right next door to where I work so I made a pilgrimage!

My weekend project was trying out #PicoIDE on my Amiga 1200. It mostly works, just needs a few tweaks. Thanks to the Amiga community who knows this machine way better than I do!

Some people run Debian on their raspberry pi.

Not me. I'm running it on a Pico. Not that I can log in due to how slow this is. 😆

(Okay, it's an rp2350 stamp, but...)

@sharkabytes.bsky.social posted about The Dig's soundtrack earlier today, which made me feel like firing the game up on the PicoIDE (coming soon 😉) - this really takes me back!

Get a cool OSHWA shirt so I can also get my cool OSHWA shirt!
We need 14 more cool people to get cool clothes to meet our print minimum 🥺 maybe that's you? 👉 👈
From now until the end of Open Hardware Month you can snag your very own OSHWA t-shirt or hoodie! Check out the fundraiser right here: www.customink.com/fundraising/...

and if a recap doesn't fix it, replace it with a PicoGUS! 😁
I'm waiting for the world to warm up a little before I continue construction projects, so let's do a little stream at 10:30 this morning to check out the insides of this Creative-branded Sony CDU-33A drive. This one is detected, but does not work. Probably needs a recap. youtube.com/live/5ZdXpfv...

And this is why I continue to love Python and use it whenever I can. The community is the best out of any I've seen, and the PSF has their back.
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

Sometimes there's really cool stuff on FB Marketplace. Here's a data terminal used on the Cassini mission in a flight case with exceedingly cool NASA worm logo "CRITICAL SPACE ITEM" stickers.

Something that I do *not* like about getting older is I have lost the ability to sleep in on weekends. This sucks! Though it is kinda nice having the house to myself for a couple hours while everyone else snoozes away…

I have up for sale a TF1260 accelerator for the #Amiga 1200. Has a full fat Rev 1 68060 running at 50Mhz with 128MB ram.

Running the latest firmware on the board. Recently upgraded to a Pistorm, so this is for sale.

$400 shipped and insured inside the US.

I’m helping my kid with precalc and decided to do some vintage calculating by getting out the HP 48G I used in high school and college. It calculates pretty slow but the keyboard and RPN are still a dream.

My cool Space Shuttle Enterprise Approach and Landing Test mug that I got at a vintage shop in the Mojave outside Lancaster is starting to fade. I’m torn between “use it so you can enjoy it” and “it must be preserved” here
