I make things for old computers and like using them in fun ways. Most people know me for PicoGUS, a sound card emulator for mid-90s PCs. I'm making a card for the Sharp X68000 now, and when I get the chance I try to do things like hook an old Macintosh up to barbed wire and print over it.

Looks like someone took our ball and ran with it, and continued with a fully portable C++ port of Second Reality - including a browser version!

Finally we can replace DOOM as "the thing you run on things"! 💪

The trackpad is absolutely goated. Screen is a bit too cheap to do it justice. Makes a massive difference though

Some progress on the Nintendo PlayStation: some programmable logic acts as a bridge between SFC and CD hardware. Set up in a loopback configuration, the BIOS now thinks it's talking to the mechacon MCU. Mock firmware is ready to go once this part is debugged.

did you know that you can find free Cortex M0 development boards at the side of the road? folks call them disposable vapes but they're hackable, and i've reverse engineered a bunch of them! see github.com/schlae/VapeRE/

Nintendo prototypes its next console using the current one.

For example at the Nintendo Museum the prototype for the DS was 2 GBA screens put on top of each other. While the Wii U prototype was 2 Wii Remotes glued to the sides of a monitor lol

Some may not realize it, but the #PicoGUS and #PicoIDE logos are in a custom typeface that I made based on the Gravis logo from the Ultrasound Plug & Play box.

Ever wonder why a Supergun has such a stupid (but cool) name?

It was just a name used by Taiwanese firm Gamesgroup Corp, similar to later products like Super Wildcard & SuperUFO game copiers

Raven Games (London) got their own version made to UK spec & called it Supergun Deluxe. It stuck

So cool to see #PicoIDE already being written about on blogs I'm a big fan of. I'm working as hard as possible to get it officially launched ASAP!

BlueSCSI 🤝 PicoIDE

Welcome to the truly open hardware & open source retro storage revolution.

We've worked together to make this awesome front panel work in both PicoIDE and BlueSCSI.
Are you ready for #PicoIDE? It seems to be telling me it's ready. Coming soon: ATAPI optical disc emulation and IDE hard drive emulation. picoide.com

When there’s a slow moving train going through town and there’s only one road overpass that goes over the train tracks, getting to the other side of town turns into a topology problem

Why am I taking a selfie in front of a random office building? This is a former Maxtor office and where several versions of the ATA/ATAPI spec were written. While working on #PicoIDE I noticed that the work address of the editor was literally right next door to where I work so I made a pilgrimage!

My weekend project was trying out #PicoIDE on my Amiga 1200. It mostly works, just needs a few tweaks. Thanks to the Amiga community who knows this machine way better than I do!

Some people run Debian on their raspberry pi.

Not me. I'm running it on a Pico. Not that I can log in due to how slow this is. 😆
