I think about this night (Jan 31 2020) all the time.
Brexit was finally done, Republicans blocked Trump's first impeachment (over blackmailing Zelenskyy), we rode bikes around NYC in protest against NYPD brutalizing people on the subways. COVID was spreading but we had no idea.
And here we are.

I'm annoyed this starts two weeks from now because I'm planning a last minute 48 hour trip to use up my remaining interrail before the 25th

I found an interesting travel artifact, an entry and exit stamping card that you could use for crossing borders into Slovenia, Hungary or Italy with just an ID, from before Croatia joined the EU.

This suggests to me that the token "tripwire visit" to Greenland by these European states made it clear to someone (whether Trump or someone who has his ear) that there is not in fact a viable military approach to take Greenland.
I was not convinced this would be the case, but for now I was wrong.

It’s been reported locally, but I’m not sure how much national notice this has gotten. As part of this invasion by shithead goons, they are putting ICE agents in jetbridges and other parts of the airport at Minneapolis-Saint Paul. If you are flying Delta via MSP, you are putting yourself at risk.

Naravno da je bilo direktnih željezničkih linija između Beograda i Beča. Noćni *direktni* voz se zvao Slavija. Ali vozile su ga Jugoslovenske železnice pa se to valjda ne broji.
