OH MY GOD IDE IS DEFEATED 🎉🎉

#picoide
After staying up way too late last night refactoring IOR to be ~65% faster, #PicoIDE is now booting the Performa 630 on its famously cursed IDE interface

On Saturday's noon EST stream, I'm going to explore a Panasonic FS-A1 MSX2 computer that I got in exchange for working on the FM Towns UG20. Supposedly the insides are bad. After that, we'll keep poking at the Laser 128 EX/2. The ultrasonic bath did not make it better. youtube.com/live/O3APXSX...

As much as we can we implement new features without new hardware - and androda has done it again over this holday break:

🎶 💿 CD #Audio support in all #BlueSCSI's is coming soon! You'll need a DAC, they're cheap and we'll make one that fits nicely on old devices too: mastodon.social/@TechByAndro...

On New Year's Day at noon, I'm going to stream to start work on this dead Laser 128 EX/2 that @javmaster.bsky.social sent me. This poor machine was in a flood, and I don't know anything about this architecture, so there will likely be tears and cursing. youtube.com/live/4PNSSOJ...

I was going to be a bit more celebratory today with getting the last video of the year finished and stuff, then it got dropped on me pretty hard this morning that over the weekend we lost an icon in the world of tech reporting.

My two great successes (or failures, depending - though you know me I'll take the former).

2023 - the SUPERDANA 66x outlet, filling up bad (and good) search engine results everywhere

1998 on - Convincing half my home country that Iced Vovos had marshmallow topping (they never did)

i think what gets overlooked is that part of the humor and charm of edits like these is that you're perfectly aware that someone sat down and spent their own time making it. they chose to do something cool or silly or stupid or genius, regardless of the results

that human element elevates the work
Who needs AI when we had stuff like this? I’ll take photoshop edits over the slop any day
