I am rarely interested in talking about abusive individuals because quite frankly they're not interesting. They're all pretty much the same — just people who want to get their way/dominate other people and don't care who they hurt. What's more interesting is the cracks in the system that enable them

An easy way to explain luddites:
Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.
And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.
That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

I think we have to interpret this through the lens of
1. The tanking poll numbers
2. The freak out about war crimes
They are hoping some extra racism will cheer up the base and spread opposition to their political program/pogroms thinner. It’s a distraction and also the point. Simultaneous.

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.
