The Latest Defense Against ICE: 3D-Printed Whistles
Chicagoans are making, sharing, and printing designs for whistles that can warn people when ICE is in the area. The goal is to “prevent as many people from being kidnapped as possible.”

I keep trying to wrap my head around the fact our president pedophile nazi grandpa just calls into random shows throughout the day, and constantly displays that his brain is sloshing around like a cat litterbox full of piss. and we just go about our day like this is normal shit
McAFEE: What does Veterans Day mean to you?
TRUMP: To me, it means taking care of the veterans. And you know, we have a 92% approval rating at the VA.

Think about buying a car, a fun, stress-free negotiating process that everybody loves. Now imagine that if you don’t buy a car you die and if you buy the wrong car you also die
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Vance shares a strange immunity with Trump.
The press cannot or will not pierce through his rhetoric to see the what-should-be-obvious danger of the man.
This includes:
1. Vance follows lots of neo-Nazis on X
2. His championing of Germany's far right
3. HE'S WELCOMING HITLER LOVERS INTO THE GOP

JD Vance now leads the GOP. And he wants the party to welcome Hitler lovers.
And the press refuses to reckon with what this means.

I wish Congressional Dems could understand that picking and losing a big fight is energizing but picking and losing a small fight is demoralizing and embarrassing.
It was a major mistake that the Senate didn’t hold high-profile hearings and investigations into the corrupt Roberts Court when ProPublica was breaking the scandals.
Now that same corrupt Court is blowing up NIH, NSF, and all of US basic science.
Our failure to pick a big fight with the Court 1/

look at what this leadership did with oversight powers of SCOTUS in the middle of multiple devastating scandals for the conservatives. look at the half assed impeachments and half-assed oversight during the teens.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.
The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.
The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.
Why?
It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

So the President is determining taxes and appropriating funds. And we still pay Congress because?
Let a single person feed their family with food stamps when they don't "deserve" the benefit and Republicans will be filled with such rage that they'll take away those benefits from millions of others.

President Trump criticized the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during a Fox News interview tonight, saying people "get it automatically now so the number is many times what it should be, it's disgraceful."
Trump says "we can reform" SNAP
"SNAP is supposed to be if you are down and out," Trump said on Fox News this evening.

I wonder if he asked his GOP colleagues whether they’ve lost any sleep or feel any shame about making people go hungry and work for them for free
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

Fascinating. Again I suggest that the professional Federal employees dedicated to cybersecurity should not have been fired by groypers and a man who doesn’t know what a magnet is
Politico is reporting that the breach at the Congressional Budget Office is "ongoing."
“Do NOT click on any links in emails from CBO. Do NOT share sensitive information with CBO colleagues over email, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom at this time,” the email to CBO staff reads.

This is good framing
Republicans have "won" the right to uninsure millions of Americans, nearly all of them self-employed, farmers, and business owners, the exact people they pretend they want us to be.
Millions of Americans are going to be destroyed by their insurance costs, at best, or lose their insurance and possibly die at worst. And millions more every year of Trump's term due to Trump's bill. This has never happened in American history, and I don't think anyone can predict what happens next.

I’ll say it again: would love to read some stories of social shunning going on in the Senate! Would love to hear some floor speeches about how Thom Tillis dgaf about his NC constituents starving but for some reason Dems from CA are expected to care about them
I mean fundamentally a huge problem is that they're all stuck in a miserable institution that doesn't work because they all prioritize their own power and comfort over the ability to actually pass legislation so they become chummy because what else is there to do when you're all bored to tears

I mean this too is a dodge because they still don’t recognize that their GOP colleagues in the Senate are willing to hurt people to the exact same degree Trump is. Why isn’t Collins expected to care about her constituents starving? Dems have to care about GOP constituents more than the GOP does?
like this is basically it, the melts melted under pressure

Schumer's a coward. Shaheen & co. soiled themselves. Yes, yes to all of it. But why don't Murkowski, Tillis, & company even get asked questions? Why do we have zero expectation of them? Journalists don't even bother trying. We have accepted Murc's Law as a constitutional provision. It's maddening.
These 5 people could caucus with the Democrats, giving them a majority & firmly opposing the fascism, any time. It might be nice for an enterprising journalist to ask them why they keep not doing this every day as the crimes & corruption continue & John Thune refuses to fulfill his oath of office.
🚨 The Senate votes 52-48 to overturn President Trump's 50 percent tariffs on Brazil. 5 GOP Senators break ranks to vote against Trump: Collins ME, McConnell KY, Murkowski AK, Paul KY, and Tillis NC.

I think what it comes down to is a base that has recognized there is nothing left to lose—the Union is effectively over, the Constitution a dead letter—but our insulated, elderly, fearful Senators are trying to protect all their little bags and nuts. They just need it to hang on long enough for them
Schumer (74) is hiding behind Angus King (81), Jeanne Shaheen (78, retiring), and Maggie Hassan (67).

They think they’re the Washington Generals to the GOP’s Globetrotters and that they’ll keep getting their cut of the gate like they always have.
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

Re-upping this, which turned out to be accurate. This was all just a con while Republicans waited for a green light from Trump. Kayfabe. Whatever provisions are in there that are supposedly a win for Dems won’t happen.

This is from March but I still think about it and find myself wondering if this is, you know, a viable system of government that can be saved or deserves to be saved.
I love to call my Senators' offices three times per week and try to cajole them into doing the most elementary political messaging and strategy. This is what it means to be an engaged citizen: leaving a strenuously polite voicemail for a 74yo on a more regular cadence than I talk to my parents.
