If I were writing a book about a repressive state run by a golf-obsessed dictator I'd call it NINETEEN EIGHTY FORE.

A much-needed timeline cleanser.
Trying a little something new, would you believe this took 3 days to render?

Today I learned about the existence of drugstore beetles and now I'm picturing a bug in a chemist's apron asking for your prescription.

Another one of those mental images I had to exorcise by drawing it.

We just found out this existed, but I know several SF stories about civilizations on planets like this e.g. Michael Coney's Hello Summer, Goodbye. If this isn't exactly that, people will write more SF with planets just like this, because "What would it be like to live there?" is the first question.
A system that shouldn’t exist: a planet in a retrograde orbit that passes *between* two stars. New measurements suggest it either started out in orbit around both stars and moved as the stars aged, or it actually formed from *material ejected by one star* as it reached old age 🔭🧪
Weird planet is orbiting backwards between two stars
After two decades of debate, research confirms that an odd binary star system has an equally odd planetary companion

Deactivated my account on the former Twitter; hadn't really touched it over the past year and a bit, but it felt right, given current circumstances. Decided also not to save an archive of my old tweets; nothing I said there was worth saving, in my opinion.

Implausibly, the final UI in Apohaqui, New Brunswick, are silent. It’s just pronounced Apohawk.
If you pronounce Maugerville a certain way, I will know if you're from here or not. Or Rusagonis.

An interesting thread; worth noting.
Some Thoughts On Revolutions

If you’re calling for a revolution you’ve already slightly missed the point of what they are and how they happen. You can choose rebellion, riot, coup, insurrection and so on. You can choose radical policies. Revolution is different.

Planets everywhere we look:

Astronomers just found a small rocky world orbiting Barnard's Star, the 2nd-closest star system. The planet is about half the mass of Earth. There are hints of 3 more small planets nearby.
