This week’s Starfleet Academy episode was a great way to honour Deep Space Nine and Avery Brooks. Made this old DS9 fan very happy indeed.

Testing my healing foot out on a walk through Leigh Woods past a tree that (in my head) looks like a monster crawling towards you and the best bridge in the world.

Suede never got big this side but if you like jangly guitars with a glam rock sound then you will probably love them.
Animal Nitrate is one of the best songs of the Britpop era.

Recovery from foot surgery has had a few bumps in the road and I’m feeling as rough as a badger’s bottom. Ah, well — didn’t have the bricks to make a badger, so went for this chap instead.

Currently reading: CRAFTLAND by James Fox. This seems such an important book right now at a time when folk are looking to analogue activities as a means to pull them away from doomscrolling.

Nick Offerman says you go into woodworking knowing that you're going to make mistakes -- and that's a good thing! The same can be said about every creative endeavour, although it's a hard lesson to remember.

I write more about it here 👉 www.cavletter.com/youre-going-...

One thing about being forced to relax following my op is remember how much I used to enjoy drawing / cartooning. Seriously considering making it a part of my downtime again. What do you think?

Being forced to put my feet up post op means I can start designing a mascot for our D&D group!

Ink delivery from @cultpens.bsky.social!

Seen a couple of folk talk about Salamander recently so I thought I’d give it a try and I’m a sucker for orange inks so Autumn Oak slipped into my basket. Will report back!

Just watched the pilot of STAR TREK ACADEMY and had a good time. Love Holly Hunter.

People spend big bucks on foot pictures, right? Right?

Ok, maybe not this one. Had an op to remove a nasty little gremlin that had been growing in one of my big flappin’ plates. Feeling a little grotty, but happy to get the blighter out of there!

God bless the NHS!

If you juggle ideas, notes, and projects through the day, the Lochby Mini Field Journal might be the pocketbook system you’re looking for.

Here’s a quick blog about why it’s working for me:
