I am not live posting the whole argument here because I want to listen closely to Trump v. Slaughter. But the solicitor general for Trump just said the point here in killing the independence of agencies like the FTC is that executive branch officers must “fear and obey” the president. Wow. #SCOTUS

BREAKING: DOJ will oppose a request for class certification — to create a class-action lawsuit — in the Maryland CASA case challenging Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship after the Supreme Court ended universal injunctions and said class actions remain available for broad relief.
Rosenberg says DOJ will oppose the motion for class certification.

I believe this is BORTAC, the Border Patrol's equivalent of SWAT. The guy who eventually shot the Uvalde killer was part of BORTAC. They're trained operators.
There is literally no justification to use BORTAC to round up day laborers. None. Zero. Zip. Nada.

I obtained this from a community member minutes after arriving on scene following a raid at the Cypress Park Home Depot this morning. they detained day laborers.

A part of me thinks it’s bc of the attention the Alien Enemies Act expulsions got. Extensive media reporting & public outrage over the admin’s lawless denials of due process.
There hasn’t been the same kind of coverage or focus on 3rd country removals - even tho they’re no less appalling or lawless

I am struggling to square today's order with the Supreme Court's ruling that migrants targeted for removal to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act must be afforded meaningful due process. Why shouldn't these migrants, who face banishment to countries they've never stepped foot in, get the same?

Even in context of medical care, Skrmetti doesn’t resolve whether denying GAMC to minors is sex discrimination under statutes like T7, T9, and 1557 because Geduldig’s reasoning doesn’t apply to those statutes. Discrim based on pregnancy is sex discrimination in that context.

The Fourth, Seventh, Ninth and Tenth Circuits have all held (in contexts other than medical care) that discrim against trans people gets heightened scrutiny. Skrmetti leaves those circuit precedents intact.
