Stitches of Identity: Traditional Patchwork Quilting in Kazakhstan

Rising demand for hand-crafted textiles has brought about a reinvention of the kurak craft in Kazakhstan, where the cultural symbolism behind each motif goes deeper.

I know it's just me being annoying, but watch and see who gives credit to the journalists *actually* covering a story and who just writes something — with no sourcing or credit — for engagement. And remember that! Journalism costs money and the people who actually cover things need your support.

TOS only aired because of a woman. It was saved by a woman. Women wrote many of the scripts. Its original pilot had a woman as executive officer.

Did... did he come from the mirror universe? Has anybody checked his facial hair?
my god he is serious oh joshua, joshua, joshua .... sweetie.

No. Just ... no. I mean, no.

Joshua, I need you to sit down and listen to your Elders. I am here to tell you, with my full chest, that you are ignorant and wrong, you should be embarrassed that you said this crap out loud.

Overwhelm the *existing* White House.

I'm sure there are palatial plans for its destruction and resurrection, too.

Just yikes.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation warned that President Trump’s planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom would “overwhelm the White House itself,” which spans just 55,000 square feet. https://wapo.st/4hmL8rC

Lol, just yesterday someone blocked me for correctly pointing out the Bernie mythology is full of holes.

🤷‍♀️ When people show you who they are, believe them.
Bernie about Platner,

“In all due respect, all right, what I'm worried about, 50,000 Americans may die unnecessarily? And you're worried about a tattoo?"

When I asked about his comments about sexual assault, he said "Have you served four tours of duty?" I said "I have not."

Bernie: "Ok"

This photo makes me sick to my stomach.

This is it. It's really over. This is really the end of America.

Maybe something better will come after. I hope so.

Maybe they need some local news reporters. We're re used to small, petty, insolent, childish assholes. The ones who make it to the federal level have media training. It's probably been a long time since anyone in the WHCA has had to deal with the kind of crap we've been catching down here for years.
The dumbest administration in any country anywhere in the world in the history of mankind.

And they're a dime a dozen
Ezra Klein is so emblematic of a certain kind of man in media.

Incurious while thinking he's open-minded, condescending while ignorant of his of ignorance.

It's an intellectual exercise for him, as if that's a marker of his journalistic professionalism rather than an expression of his privilege.

People don't understand that civil conflict looks like your neighbors dragging you out of bed in the middle of the night and executing you in your living room simply because they're suspicious you might be a political enemy, and it really shows sometimes.

It may get lost in the noise of posting on the news of Kirk's death, but I can't help sparing a thought for the young people forced to witness it. We move on so quickly from these events, but they leave behind a bunch of scarred people, who are also victims.

The simplest explanation for why the right does not appear to care that Donald Trump is a sexual abuser and a pedophile is that they do not, in fact, care if he is a sexual abuser and a pedophile.

I don't know how it could be worse than I'd imagined, but those aren't even *remotely* adult breasts. Like, you can't even pretend they are.

I feel like I shouldn't even be sharing this. Good lord.

Somehow, somewhere, this is an emergency. Do we do our Potemkin emergency in Chicago, or do we manufacture it somewhere more pliant?
Trump: "We're making a determination now -- do we go to Chicago, or do we go to a place like New Orleans where we have a great governor who wants us to come in and straighten out a very nice section of this country that's become quite tough, quite bad?"
