🤞🤞🤞 I can't wait for people to cast off the shackles of prohibitive NIMBY zoning

They've ripped out all the commuter rail lines, too. It's enraging.

Yes!!

Some of the change is zoning laws, some of it is cultural. I've been wondering if communal housing like this will come back. 🤷‍♀️

Yes. I'm from the east side of the Cleveland area. I definitely understand that dynamic. 😕

Also, boarding houses were ubiqitous for quite a long time. And, as unpleasant as it definitely was, there were jobs that came with housing. Farmhand, housekeeper, etc. Not that those were more desirable, but there was at least a broad social acceptance of the idea that housing was a need.

Not disagreeing with your point - I agree that supply is also a problem. I'm just confused by OP's argument that people are all looking for bigger homes when that is absolutely not reality where I live.
November 9, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Okay but these houses still exist - and they are way less affordable than they used to be. Detroit, Cleveland, etc. I don't buy the argument that people are only finding housing unaffordable bc they're all trying to buy huge homes. That is not the reality on the ground, at least not where I live.

"Paid to send myself back to school" 🥴 lol let me find an extra $100k in my couch cushions I guess. No concept of reality.

Heck, they've been pinning his first term on everyone from Biden to Pelosi to... Obama?? Who they somehow also blame for 9/11.

And the cult keeps swallowing it 🤦‍♀️

This is true allyship, whether our current government welcomes it or not. Grateful to the Dutch.

Yes. War, famine, and disease ride together. This is bringing the coat-tails of war without the coat.

Me, too. And for years afterwards, every time I saw that color in the sky I was instantly back there.

Hilariously, my teenagers love Leslie Knope. Should I be flattered?

No.

I want her to be Speaker so she can hold office for far longer than 8 years.

Could turnout (highly motivated D voters) have something to do with the ~3% difference, or do you think it's a separate issue here?
