NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:
- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

during some cedar-isles-dean design review meeting I remember certain commenters using the environmental impact defense for why Cedar was able to be more peaceful and natural because people couldn't walk or bike around it. as if their perfectly manicured lawn right to the water's edge is natural.
Behind the scenes: for this episode, I floated out on Cedar Lake to record video of all the private docks encroaching on public land, so now I can write off my inflatable tube as a business expense.

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

need to extend this to people who actually live in cities (albeit small to mid-size) and are afraid of the "city"
We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

In San Antonio today, plainclothes ICE officers (not masked this time) arrested, handcuffed, and zip-tied a family of five (yes, ALL of them, including the little children) coming out of their immigration court hearing — which ICE had just had dismissed.

I took public transit when I was there for an architecture awards event. one person, who knew i was from out of town, asked where I was staying/how I got there and I responded the bus. they practically starting checking my body for bruises and blood.
Huge kudos to @awalkerinla.bsky.social for all she’s done to champion and normalize transit use in LA!
