A 34-year-old as a politician: My god he's like a baby. It's like they just elected an infant to be their mayor.

you'd think a prominent news outlet like the New York Times might mention that "antifa" isn't an actual organization in a long story about antifa, but nope!

"Look, the President clearly has some kind of dementia" should be how Democrats begin every single comment to reporters these days.
Ruben Gallego on whether Trump is talking to Democrats:

“Look, the President clearly has some kind of dementia, so I think there's a he's probably talking to himself, or think he's talking to a Democrat, but I sincerely doubt that that's actually he's actually physically talking to a Democrat.“

It's kind of wild that in this shutdown fight, if you follow the logic of what Republicans are saying, they are basically arguing that if a person shows up at an ER bleeding out from a gun wound or suffering from a cardiac arrest, they should be turned away if they can't show their papers.

new from @kylietcheung.bsky.social in @teenvogue.com: recently, men have impersonated plainclothes ICE agents to assault women—only possible, she argues, because state agents commit violence with impunity.

"To be clear, men wouldn’t be posing as ICE agents and assaulting women if ICE didn’t exist."
How ICE Raids Are Making It Easier for Civilian Men to Assault Immigrant Women
"This phenomenon is only possible because of the outsized power that state agents have always had to abuse and control women and victims' bodies," argues Kylie Cheung.

If you wrote a "Trump distances himself from project 2025" story in 2024 you are either a dupe or one of our enemies. They are cackling with laughter that the media they're now destroying enthusiastically helped them dupe the voters
hey so this is insane

If you spent even one second of the last decade indulging the free speech claims made by the American right in earnest, I genuinely think you're lacking in intelligence. I do not think you have what it takes to deliver sound commentary on American politics.

Top *eight* articles on NYT devoted to Charlie Kirk, top one asks if he will be remembered like MLK. This is a man who only a tiny percent of Americans had even heard of before his death, whose views are too nasty for NYT to detail. But they are trying so hard to turn into martyr.

Mainstream media's Charlie Kirk narrative:

Sure, he believed LGBTQ people should be stoned to death, black people are inferior and unqualified, women are only meant to serve men, 10 year old girls should be forced to give birth.

But he meant well.

He was not even arguing civilly! That's the thing! Setting the content of what Kirk said entirely aside, the idea that he modeled reasoned, respectful, fact-based debate and charity towards one's political opponents is completely insane! The form was also extremely bad!
Ezra Klein is trying in this column to argue that Kirk was doing politics correctly if you just ignore the content of what he was advocating. That he was contributing to American democracy by arguing civilly for the subjugation of women, gay people, trans people. It simply doesn’t work.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills. Charlie Kirk’s ultimate goal, which he said time and time again, would have been the suppression, through threat of violence and the use of state power, of the rights of those he disagreed with, including freedom of expression.

If I were editing a column about Charlie Kirk’s political genius, I would tell the writer he needed to quote Kirk’s actual political beliefs. If the writer responded that doing so would weaken or distract from his argument, it’d be a pretty good sign that the column was not ready for prime time.

Liberals are doing the right’s job for it.

By lionizing Charlie Kirk and refusing to acknowledge his real political project, they’re giving power to the right’s completely predictable effort to use his death to forward their goal of an authoritarian, fascist state.
