"Decolonization is not only about borders; it is about dismantling imperial capitalism, militarism, and the global hierarchies that sustain them."

The Gaza genocide radicalized the world — and there's no going back
People can't unsee a live-streamed annihilation defended under the banner of liberal democracy. They know the Israeli apartheid regime can no longer exist.

And critically taking this approach is trying to trade in credibility they do not have. They’re trying to get cash from an overdrawn account.
Okay? I'm not sure how this means that the most important issue to anyone who opposes the reactionary policies of the American right ....is avoiding any and all criticism of the democratic party? How does that work? Vibes get so good that it makes Santa's sleigh fly? We have to *believe* extra hard?

To the Ellisons, $8B for the chance to censor CBS reports about atrocious Trump regime actions is a good deal.

To Elon Musk (and the Saudis), $44B to censor and manipulate Twitter is worth it.

They don't need profits from media properties. For them, money long ago crossed the threshold into power.

What is this chess move?
NEWS: Bill Clinton is demanding full transparency from the Trump DOJ on the Epstein files.

Clinton’s spokesman says the DOJ’s selective release suggests someone is being protected.

He calls on Trump to direct Bondi to immediately release all remaining materials referencing Clinton.

i don’t think everyone needs to like every film but the way people refuse to even take the avatar series seriously in any capacity feels so performative in a way no other series has ever been treated, very odd to me

I've said it before & I'll keep saying it: centrism is alignment with *the centre of power & privilege*, the ideology of elite/gatekeeper antisocialist "liberals" who exist to occupy that space to fight tooth and nail against any sort of social liberalism, protosocialism, or worse *actual socialism*
More from the important research by @lachlanmcnamee.bsky.social @salmamousa.bsky.social & @kylepeyton.bsky.social:

The backlash to CRT and DEI was concentrated among educated & professional class centrists & Republicans. Working class, who Yglesias says backlashed, didn't actually care
Since there seems to be a flurry of Yglesias discourse on here today, here is my take. He recently joined the moral panic over teaching about race--on the side of the racists. And he gets critical race theory wrong because he superficially engages with it.

Plus a lot of sex traffic busts are kids on the streets trying to survive. Many are LGBTQ & kicked out.

The right never pushes for all kids to be loved or to systemically address safety nets. Instead every Repub with a gun wants to play saviour, inventing narratives that makes helping kids harder.
A central motif throughout the drug panics has been the specter of predatory drug dealers forcing innocent young white girls into sexual slavery. Swap out “scary young Black guy” with “old rich white man” and suddenly there’s no urgency.

We like to think the question is, “can American democracy fight off ascendant fascism?” when it’s really, “will American fascism fight off attempts at democracy?”
You know how racist a country gotta be to give everybody a 60 year taste of what being closer to equality could potentially look like & then just roll all that shit back?

A story I found about Haiti:

In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."
