Seattle, we might be headed to a recount for mayor. Check your ballot!

Today in "Wrong On The Internet": the revolution is when no spreadsheets
The reason 30 Rock succeeds years later while parks and rec has aged like a toilet full of milk, is that 30 Rock doesnt shy away from portraying Liz Lemon as an obvious villian with a victim/hero complex, whereas Leslie Knope was played just a straight hero character, even tho she is a neolib shill

I just don’t understand how they thought “ha ha ha this loser can’t afford child care in the city I’m currently mayor of” would be a good look.

The Dodgers told me Yesavage keeps striking out their batters so I asked how many batters they have and they said they just go to the dugout and get a new batter afterwards so I said it sounds like they're just feeding batters to Yesavage and then Jason Bateman started crying.

We deserve better. Dehumanizing our neighbors by using photos of them on their worst days without their consent is unacceptable. We have a lot of work to do to address homelessness, but this only moves us further from that goal by othering real people in an attempt to score cheap political points.

The best thing happening to the Democratic Party right now is that all the complacent business puppets who can’t actually govern are getting owned by nerds who watch YouTube videos about how we could improve door hinge manufacturing

Some interesting upgrades to my Home Assistant setup:
* Voice assistant has persistent memory loaded from a file on each interaction
* Memory updated when directed ("Please remember...") or when it otherwise deems appropriate
* Nightly automation summarizes and adds insights in the background

"I have a decent fluency in LLMs, and they have utility, but the absurd degree of over-hype, the way they're being forced on everyone, and the insistence on ignoring the many valid critiques about them make it very difficult to focus on legitimate uses where they might add value."

I get the point that's trying to be made here, but it's actually inaccurate. The *MAJORITY* of actual practitioners in the tech industry have a position that is neither of these, it's merely getting drowned out by these two loud positions. The most common belief in the tech industry is simple:
There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.
Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.

This is saying nothing, of course, of how the mainline party reacted to the student and Muslim/Palestinian led protests of the Gaza genocide in the last cycle.
We live in a culture that has demonstrably rejected core facets of small “d” democratic life from its civil life. A recipe for catastrophe.

Abolish ICE is table stakes. Even if Democrats win anyone unwilling to take this position is okay with it happening again, or worse, keeping this depravity in their back pocket for when it benefits them.
And I am in absolute awe of this woman’s bravery:
