George's Christmas Jukebox Advent Calendar

A daft thread where I will post a Christmas song every day until Christmas Day. Hopefully drawing attention to some different songs than the 12 that get endlessly repeated on UK radio - or at least interesting covers/variants thereof.

I've read Queer As Folklore and found it hugely entertaining and informative. Would highly recommend!
I will be asking to remove 'Queer As Folklore' from the long list for the Polari Prize 2025.

At the airport, about to go on a wee solo trip to Gran Canaria while @gquail.bsky.social is at Warhammer World. Oscillating between excited and anxious. Never done anything like this before or spent this much time apart in 21 years. Sure I'll be fine but having a smol crisis of faith! ✈️

🧀Some (very Friday in August) polling. Does your favourite cheese affect how you vote? Reform have huge leads with fans of Stilton & Cheddar, but also people who don't eat cheese at all. Labour dominates among Feta fans. Tories best result is Brie & Greens with Camembert.

I've been thinking a lot about this post since I read it a couple of days ago.

Broadly speaking, left/centre voters believe Brexit followed by Covid are the points where "everything went wrong". But if you're right wing, you think Blair's election was much worth for the path of Britain. 1/x
When did Britain start to go wrong? In @NewStatesman @georgeeaton looks at our polling of when the public think our turn for the worst was. Brexit tops the list, but different voters disagree. Reform voters most likely to pick Blair’s election as putting Britain on wrong track
