I think about this from time to time…
It is genuinely impossible for us to imagine what a world where nearly *half of us* don’t make it to 16 years old! and the general comfort/expectation level all societies had about it! but yet: was the basic experience of almost everyone from our great-grandparents backwards…forever! everywhere!

In case you’re wondering why Pete Hegseth is freaking out about a congressional video reminding the military not to participate in illegal orders:
To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

The Trump admin submitted a sworn declaration under oath that Costa Rica had changed its mind and would no longer take Mr. Abrego.

Costa Rica has now said publicly that that this is false, that they have not changed their position at all, and that they will still take him.
Unpacked:
In Aug., Govt said if Abrego pled guilty he could go to Costa Rica, where he's okay with going. Abrego said no to plea. Govt now wants to send him to Liberia. Why not Costa Rica? Govt told judge Thurs that Costa Rica wouldn’t take him anymore. @mariasacchetti exposed them.
Costa Rica will accept Abrego, per @washingtonpost.com .
If true, DOJ, DHS, and Dept of State caused lies to be disseminated to Judge Xinis all day Thursday, where an ICE official testified about info sent him by Dept of State, claiming Costa Rica wouldn't take Abrego.

Wow.

U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie ruled Lindsey Halligan's appointment unlawful and the prosecutions against New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey therefore invalid.

Both indictments are dismissed without prejudice.

At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

HOLY COW. Basically, as folks note in the comments. Halligan allowed the court reporter to believe they were done for the day but then called the Grand Jury back. There is no judge, etc at these. So very likely she reconvened with no court reporter.

I can't see how charges stand if that's true.
Today, the judge deciding the legality of Lindsey Halligan's appointment said the court reporter stopped transcribing grand jury proceedings in the Comey case at 4:28 PM. That's over TWO HOURS that's missing.

NEW @motherjones.com: When a 16-year-old accused Russell Brand of rape, Megyn Kelly begged conservatives to condemn him.

Now, with Epstein, she’s claiming it’s not quite fair to call him a a pedophile because he was “into the barely legal type” of minors. ⬇️

The story is as bad the post.

The reporter, Michael Schmidt, basically places responsibility for the statutory rape and exploitation of this girl on the victim and her mother, not Gaetz.

(Schmidt is also the journalist who “broke” the Clinton email server story and is married to Nicolle Wallace.)
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9
