So strange how twice in only a few months Democrats have so quickly and effectively found ways to use the minutia of rules and process to negate the power of people to the left of their platform in a way they spent years insisting was impossible to do for, say, Joe Manchin.

This is more anti-Semitic than anything Mamdani has said or is accused of saying.
👀 Socialite Alisa Roever, who co-founded a charity with NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ brother Bernard, says on IG that Jews will be to blame if Mamdani wins mayoral race:

“Jews own real state, banks, media. Mamdani taking over the city your fault. It is slap in your face that you are not strong anymore.”

Trump’s appointees have ZERO IDEA what they are doing or what their jobs are.

Breathtaking and staggering incompetence. I truly could not believe what I was hearing.

What’s very annoying is a vast majority of people on here think it’s #1 and it is so obviously actually #2. These are evil people but it’s mostly evil people grabbing anything not nailed down because they know for a fact Democrats will not punish them for it. At all.
This is, to me, the defining dyamic of everything the last six months. Any game theory notion of deterrence or the shoe being on the other foot ever is entirely gone. Either 1) They don't think they'll ever lose power again or 2) they're confident Democrats won't ever do the same things back to them
Budget agreements won’t matter, funding obligations won’t matter, expended funds on the basis of promised reimbursement won’t matter.

You really don’t get the impression the GOP is thinking through what this means for the second they’re not in control.

this is a good illustration of what “compromise” on trans rights looks like. there’s no “everyone gets rights but we take it easy on the pronouns.” if you head down that road you will end up denying that trans people are real.
Rahm Emanuel criticized Dems for talking about "pronouns," but Megyn Kelly is the first interviewer I've seen drill down for his views.

Boys + girls are "fundamentally, physically different." No "men claiming they're women" in women's prisons.

Police who keep their identities secret are, quite literally, secret police. I don’t know why this is even controversial. You don’t get to yank people off the streets while hiding your face and identity and still retain the respectability of an accountable, democratic police force.
“Secret police” are your words, not mine. Seems like you’ve been giving them a lot of thought.

Unlike NYPD, your agents don’t identify themselves & wear masks that cover their faces. Now they ignore judges’ rulings, too.

What law enforcement agents are supposed to uphold … is the rule of law.

it’s worth making this more explicit:
The NYT is suggesting Zohran lied by checking off both “Asian” & “African”, because (in their view) someone of Indian descent born & raised in Africa isn’t “truly” African. Which was also how Idi Amin justified expelling Zohran’s father & thousands of others.
Mahmood was in pan-African nationalist movements in the 70s until Idi Amin expelled Indo-Ugandans? Zohran’s dad gave him the middle name Kwame to honour the first President of Ghana? idk maybe three white American journalists aren’t the best ones to opine on whether or not he’s African.
