On an unrelated, more positive note, I’m now fully caught up on One Piece (incl the manga), and thus now can officially end my little side project of getting one of every available optcg pack to open. I will be getting nothing of value but the experience of getting these was it’s own journey :)

ALSO - really incredibly sad + frustrating to me that not only do I not feel comfortable naming studios who have done stuff like this to me (tbf it's not even that egregious in my case), but people like Zoe Quinn, who has been an incredibly talented + storied developer, has to be cautious too!

FWIW, Larian isn't alone in this sort of thing. The application-to-hiring gauntlet should not take six months, but a number of studios do this because they know there's a pool of candidates that will jump through the endless hoops and swim the oceans of stress to get to the finish line.

Larian's horrible hirring process is an open secret in the industry – insane amounts of unpaid work in "writing tests", excessive numbers of interviews, months and months of back and forth, etc. Everyone in games narrative circles has heard the stories at this point, probably from multiple people.

I'm still struggling with the Expedition 33 stuff (currently on the side of I will not be playing unless I hear a good argument as to why AI being in a game in any capacity doesn't make it worth writing off, even if it's a placeholder), but stating you use gen AI in concept art? yeah I'm out.

Legitimately asking and not meaning any harm or like, animosity, but how are people ok with Expedition 33 using AI in their development? I see the argument of "well it's not in the end product" (which beyond the art that got patched out that's true ig) but isn't the idea to reject it regardless?

seeing people who apparently can't read in the replies and quotes is so annoying. Should they have likely found a better balance between asset duplication and load times earlier, even with the faulty large estimates? sure! at the same time they were optimized!!! just not for size!!!
