The worst part is that I've now had just as many experiences in tech broadly with this same pattern, interview upon interview, months of "oh we're still in the process, don't worry", and then a silent or templated rejection. Really sucked to have graduated right as all of this hit a peak.

Like with placeholder art, I disagree with using gen AI for a variety of reasons, but at least it's explicitly meant to be replaced (though that means more that it shouldn't be used but!!!), but for concept art??? the thing that informs the look and style of your final product??? why is that okay???

You saying Mormon adjacent made me look it up and realize that this is the rebrand/broader owner of VidAngel. God, fuck those guys, I despise what they’ve done to how so many people engage with film now

Having devs be up front, stating they did use AI in their process to me just makes me not want to engage with the game at all, but I see so many people who are otherwise in the "fuck AI" camp praising it, it makes me wonder if I'm just being too restrictive in my reaction? bsky.app/profile/jonk...
I wish more game journalists would ask the Clair Obscur team how much AI they used and on what, because I definitely get the feeling it wasn’t just that one placeholder asset..
