The Trump regime wants to dismantle a world leading climate research center. Why? Because the US has become a petrostate where the government has been captured by fossil fuel interests.
They’re calling climate science “green new scam research”, in full denial of reality. 🤯

A crazy event in the report: “Following the retreat of South Sawyer Glacier, a landslide in southeast Alaska’s Tracy Arm in August 2025 generated a tsunami that swept across the narrow fjord and ran nearly 1,600 feet up the other side. Fortunately, the fjord was empty of cruise ships.”

Still processing the tragic news of the loss of Rob Reiner. I'm of the age when he was a huge part of my film-viewing in the 80s, and about ten years ago wrote a piece for the BFI celebrating to my mind some of his finest work. www.bfi.org.uk/lists/rob-re...

Ahmed al Ahmed, the man who tackled one of the Bondi killers, became an Australian citizen 3 years ago.

His deed was "his way of conveying his gratitude for staying in Australia, for being granted citizenship."

He took 5 bullets, and fears he'll lose his left arm.

Regarding Reiner, I have known a lot of musicians and been in bands myself. I can’t overstate the importance of This Is Spinal Tap in adjusting the self-importance of musicians. Everyone knows the movie, everyone has identified Spinal Tap moments, everyone is humbler and funnier as a result.

The 2021 #BCFloods showed us the cost of delay, but four years later we are still unprepared. "By leaving the [BC flood strategy] unfunded, the province is forcing local governments to compete for scraps through a broken system," writes Lina Azeez @watershedwatchbc.bsky.social. #bcpoli
Opinion: Do we need another billion-dollar flood before B.C. acts?
Flood strategy to help communities prepare for climate disasters has no funding and municipalities don't have tax base to pay for upgrades.

I've loved Sigourney Weaver ever since one of my all-time favorite movies, ALIEN. Couldn't resist going all fanboy on her yesterday & asking for a photo. She told me she's now in the cast of The Mandalorian. Talk about bad timing: she's now in that galaxy far, far away, years after I checked out! 💔

When Canada says its energy will be “green” they are talking about trying to decarbonize upstream emissions, during extraction, production & processing. As @chrishatch.bsky.social notes, 80% of emissions come from burning fossil fuels. /1

I'll admit that I occasionally watch Forged in Fire (a reality show where people make edged weapons under time pressure—don't judge 😄). One of the things I find particularly interesting is how the contestants continually make the same mistakes that brought down contestants in previous shows.

But it won't be done with CO₂ removal (CDR) technologies because the obstacles to scaling CDR are political, social, financial, physical, and technological.
Bill Gates’s climate comments are a dangerous distraction
