While this absolutely sucks, we are going to see a lot more places implementing universal global age verification over this next year, because the number of states and countries legally requiring it has gotten to the point no one can keep up anymore.

Everybody has it backwards.

Billionaires aren’t buying up these institutions to make money. They’re buying them to kill them. Same as the oligarchs destroying government and social programs and things like weather forecasting and regulatory bodies.

They’re creating a world they control completely

That's the thing about paid newsletters: if you're a take-merchant who mostly aggregates and shares opinions, you *might* have a shot at making some money. If you do actual in-depth reporting, etc., though, it's... a lot rougher
A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.

isn't that weird, @yasinmp4bedford.bsky.social, isn't it weird that the head of the paedophile cabal is getting emails from someone about in 2016 about inciting transphobia in the UK? around the time that there was a massive increase in uk news covering trans people negatively?

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

How ancient texts talk about succession becomes *quite* the mirror for their own feelings (including, possibly, pain, anger, and frustration) about teachers, students, mentorship, mentees, and more.

And as such, can be a window for our own lives and experiences, too:

Anyone wondering why no indie has managed a Prince Of Persia, uh this is why, because it's a huge number even today 😭

Like we can tech art our way around some of it, but not all of it.

Pretty sure this is why you see so many first person mobility games instead: that cuts the animations way down.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003) had over 750 animations for the Prince alone (when accounting for transitions). That was a huge number for the time.

it's never the crazy weird conspiracy theory weapons. they are poisoning you with toxins they are well-documented to have. they are beating you with ordinary sticks and shooting you with ordinary guns

the only conspiracy is how they gained legal immunity to do this
My group was able to recover a spent canister from a green smoke grenade in Minneapolis. We now confirm with physical evidence that it was a green signaling grenade.

Please don't spread rumors about hexachloroethane or nerve agents.

This absurd definition of "working class" as white people without a college diploma (which could literally include some billionaires who dropped out of Harvard) shows how left "anti-idpol" failed to guard the most important way that cultural politics could derail class struggle.
it’s just so crazy to see it happen in real time

One of the most horrifying bits of Christopher Browning's book "Ordinary Men," on a group of German Holocaust perpetrators, is the fact that absolutely nobody in the unit Browning researched was ever punished in any way for refusing to participate in massacres. These guys could just say no.
In an interview with @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social, Blas Nuñez-Neto wouldn't tell us his clients, but did say we should remember that ICE agents are people too. (Can't believe this quote below)

I know most people will blame Bethesda for this (admittedly they are the ones to pull the trigger), but the whole concept of "uncivilizing the wastes" was started by Chris Avellone and Interplay, who hated how "civilized" the wastes became in 2. It was the OG plan for New Vegas and Inter's Fallout 3
