Spider-Man is an important fictional character because the stories of Spider-Man dare to ask the age old question:

Lois Lane is a hard character for a lot of people to write because the emphasis tends to be on making her the coolest girlfriend and not what she was originally conceived as, the best reporter who scoops literal Superman constantly.

DC’s Batman/Deadpool rules. Grant Morrison goes hog wild with the main story, and the backups are uniformly great as well. If you were ambivalent about the first part of the crossover, trust me, pick this up anyway. Morrison even manages to riff on the Marvel issue and make it better, kind of?

I just finished reading the first arc of ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN by Jason Aaron, Rafa Sandoval, and Ulises Arreola and it’s really memorable and refreshing. Aaron pulls off this trick of keeping the core Superman social justice traits but rooting them in a context of his background. Truly worthwhile read.

Out of nowhere I just remembered when the Mueller Report came out, Congress called him into a hearing to try and get him to read it out loud on TV because they knew Americans wouldn’t read it, and then he didn’t do that lol

Facts
The tragic irony in comics right now is you have a whole generation of creators inspired by the Vertigo and Image books that ran for 60 issues and 9 volumes, only to enter an industry that can no longer support that.
It's a high time for the direct market, but non-licensed comics — i.e. creator-owned + other original comics — are going through a "wildly unpredictable" period.

In this week's feature, I talked to creators about navigating this uncertain time, what's fueling it, and how it's affecting their plans.

PSA because I know of all the important things happening in the world right now, this is in the top five: DC published a collection of J.M. DeMatteis’s DR. FATE in May. It’s now out of print six months later, so grab your copy if you’ve been waiting. What’s out there now is all we’re gonna get!

crazy how much this bugs me now that someone pointed it out. if i worked at the white house, i would find this ugly, but not as annoying as i do now. ignorance is really bliss bc they more you learn, the more you just walk around thinking "collar gap" and "kerning is off."
