This is essentially what governments did in the late 1900s and early 2000s with respect to Nazis. Whether you were a lowly concentration camp guard or in Hitler's inner circle, if there was evidence you were a Nazi, it was straight to jail with your walker.
It worked.

Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

The funny thing about this standard MAGA response to protest is that in this case not only is it once again a lie, but the people they’re protesting — immigration officers — are literally paid agitators and chaos agents from out of state.

Time to once again post this excellent 2019 piece on how law enforcement in the US devolved to where it is today. It doesn’t cover everything, like the split historical development of policing in the US with 2 different foundational components, but it’s an excellent explainer of the last 20+ years.
