I make film zines. It used to be my job to write about weird movies, it's not my job now but it's still good to do. I put lots of work into the zines because I don't like essays to be basic. Below, covers for zines about Hitchcock, lesbian vampires, and Scream, all handmade. sara-century.square.site
Catherine O'Hara was easily one of the funniest people alive, but also had this incredible knack for quiet tragedy. I wrote about her just once I think, in this piece for Manor Vellum about her starring role in this absolutely bananas Outer Limits episode. manorvellum.medium.com/christmas-ti...

Hi everyone! We’ve been super busy delivering meals the past two weeks- the extreme cold has made this more necessary than ever. MIWRC has been operating as an emergency warning shelter for most of the month and we’ve been really fortunate to help keep hot meals available there for people in need.

If you’re looking for a way to help the more than 3800 children who have been kidnapped by this putrid administration, try The Florence Project, or the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), KIND, or a mutual aid group

This is one of the greatest horror docs, inspired by one of the greatest academic texts on horror, of which I happen to have an extra copy on my shelf. If you do a watch/review on RT and send us receipts, you can enjoy a killer doc *and* enter in a drawing for a free copy of the book to dig deeper.
Truly wild that Horror Noire isn’t Certified Fresh yet, so let’s try to fix that: send us proof of your watch/review from now through Feb 28 and we’ll do a random draw in March and ship the winning draw our extra copy of Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman’s seminal horror work.

A publisher picked up the Scream zine so I am running through the last ever copies of the handmade cover, I think I've got about 40 left? That means I've sold over 200 since I released it, kind of wild. Honestly, I'm proud of it! This zine bangs. sara-century.square.site

I don't know why I love him but I do
@saracentury.bsky.social was posting about Captain Mar-Vell the other day and now I can't stop thinking about brooding Jim Starlin protagonists.

shifting hourly comics day forward a week is a nice move.
Hourly Comics Day has MOVED!

It's the 20th anniversary and we're taking a stand alongside our Black cartoonist members and friends to demand a change to honor Black History Month- draw your comics on the 8th, not the 1st!

There are comics that are great if not good, for instance X-Treme X-Men which does not and cannot work, but also if you tell someone about any part of it they're like W H A T so it's still somehow delightful.

i once bought a new blazer for a schitts creek panel, and when i walked into the green room, catherine o'hara complimented me on it, and also noted that i had forgotten to cut all the threads off the vents.

and then she leaned in and said, "it's because you're going to return it, isn't it"

DOJ is Trump's personal law firm that we pay for. Free for him to use its unlimited resources to harass people like Lemon, Lisa Cook or Comey. We collectively pay the price both in our taxes and in losing a nonpartisan legal system. The individual victims must pay ruinous financial costs and stress.
This is about forcing Don Lemon to spend money and time defending himself.

"“They probably don’t have any expectation that this prosecution will stick," legal expert tells me. "But they do know they will put Don Lemon through the grinder in the meantime."

Cult leaders and snake oil salesmen depend on quantity of speech, not quality. Those tirades tend to be peppered with thought eliminating cliches, something like, I dunno, "make America great again." It's repeated constantly because it's a statement that halts critical thought for followers.

Ran across this in the course of my Myrna Loy research last night, “…of course I had read ‘Mein Kampf’ at that time, and not very many people had, and I said, ‘He says everything he is going to do and he’s going to do it.’ But nobody paid attention to it…”

History rhymes, people.

I mean this is 100% accurate. As I have consistently written, Democrats have, somehow, in the past 15 years of living in this world, never figured out what leverage is or how to use it. newrepublic.com/article/2014...
Two weeks is a lifetime on Capitol Hill. Trump will create new distractions. Public attention will shift elsewhere. Delay deprives Dems of leverage and favors the GOP.
