And because this impacts women specifically, and we are socialized to be afraid of appearing unkind, especially in public: Standing up for yourself is the opposite of unkind. It’s kindness to yourself. Shut the motherfuckers down.
Not standing up for yourself—yes, even in online spaces—is out for 2026. I don’t deserve to be treated badly, and neither do you. You deserve to defend yourself, and to be defended by friends, and you deserve to let go, step away, and start over if you need to. ♥️

When I crowdfund & successfully deliver three projects over the course of four years, I’m called a “grifter” by sad men who should spend more time putting out a project of their own than monitoring my social media. But the proof is in the pudding, honey, and 2026 is going to be my biggest year yet.

My career was built on publishing two anthologies to combat the ridiculous purity culture of queerness in horror as policed by OTHER QUEER PEOPLE. Am I going to have to do it again, but with romance? Have we learned nothing? 😮💨
Having spent most of my career between queer horror and holiday romcoms, I feel ALL of this.
