The holiday season this year is like a rare astronomical event where my usual seasonal depression, my acute awareness of how many of my relationships rely entirely on my efforts to sustain them, and the absolute vacuum of any meaningful feedback of my creative work have all aligned perfectly.

Bugonia was a blast. Exactly the light hearted entertainment i needed during this stressful holiday season

Onto the Endless. Norwegian brewmaster is my favorite character. From the jump you know he is silently judging everyone, watching their desperate flights from existential dread while he just sits with it.
I’m watching all the benson/Moorehead movies in order of release on this fine holiday. Spring is the only one I’ve only seen once before. It’s a pretty wild ride

I blocked my mother on my phone for nearly six months before she even noticed.
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

In case you're unclear on what JD Vance is trying to do here maybe it will help to recall Italian writer Ignazio Silone's 1938 description of what fascism is:

“Fascism is a counter-revolution against a revolution that never took place.”
JD Vance: "In the United States of America you don't have to apologize for being white anymore"

Between this and labeling people as terrorists for the crime of saying trans people exist, I’m more terrified by the day of where we are headed, the speed at which we’re heading there, and the complete abdication of responsibility by the Democratic Party and news media.
For those keeping track, this makes two recent, draconian pieces of anti-trans legislation — the NDAA's sports ban and now the blanket trans youth care ban — that would not have passed the House without Democratic support.

Love the fact that every year now when my Word subscription renews I get to pay more money for the additional features that no one really wants and that i have to go through additional steps to disable but that still prompt me constantly when writing.

Ok so the season finale of Welcome to Derry. Certainly one of the most poorly written and executed episodes of television I’ve ever seen. Laugh out loud terrible at times. Wow. It’s impressive in a way.

I got stuck on the treadmill right by the giant monitor turned to fox today. Believe this, no matter how stupid you imagine Fox and Friends might be, whatever soundbites you’ve watched grossly underrepresented how vacuous and pandering it really is.

This morning, @dutchmarich.bsky.social surprise dropped HORROR IN THE HIGH DESERT 4: MAJESTY on Amazon and Apple TV. I was lucky enough to get an early peek.

Here's my @dreadcentral.bsky.social review of another great piece of this found footage puzzle:

Always a cause of celebration when Marich gives us a new chapter of this brilliant series.
By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.
Horror in the High Desert 4: Majesty.

The latest iPhone update is terrible. Just jangling keys type stuff that’s cosmetic but annoyingly distracting and whose actual purpose is definitely to wear out the battery sooner so we all have to upgrade.

Me: “The management since the merger has really done its level best to destroy everything we love about hbo.”
<netflix>: “hold my beer.”
There is no universe where it should be okay or allowed for Netflix to buy Warner Bros Discovery.

This plus "AI" will destroy what we consider entertainment

(Also, the nesting doll nature of ALL companies is so genuinely demented/ridiculous/absurd, just admit 5 corps own EVERYTHING now)
Netflix agrees to buy Warner Bros Discovery studio and streaming business in $83bn deal
Streaming service to gain control of studio behind Harry Potter and Batman, as well as HBO, home to The White Lotus and Game of Thrones

Radical centrist sounds like an oxymoron except we’re living in an era where being a centrist means prioritizing the comfort the of middle/upper class over the lives of queer people and ethnic minorities and accepting that ecological apocalypse is a reasonable price to pay for billionaires to exist

💯 this.
This shit is just planned out and orchestrated out in public. Her mother is a fucking conservative podcast host and lawyer, this isn't some kinda quirk or accident, this paper was written with the express purpose to gin up another culture war about trans people in academia and it's working.
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

Donald Pleasance appeared in like 200 movies in his career. Sure, not all of them are amazing but it’s a tremendous cache to have access to as you while away the time hoping for rescue.
First serious answer I landed on is Julianne Moore
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor
